Have you heard that it costs five times more to attract a new customer than to keep one? Did you know that with every lost customer relationship, you throw away up to $289 (the cost of acquiring a new customer)? Are you the one who is always looking for new customers and therefore paying redundant customer acquisition fees? Well, you should stop that right now!

Running a successful business is no easy task, so if you want to increase your profits and minimize your costs, you should consider measuring your customer satisfaction rather than just tracking balance sheets and income statements.

Surely you've heard of the "one customer is always right" rule, but in reality that doesn't necessarily translate into happy customers. In fact, according to a survey by Genesys Global, poor customer service costs companies up to $338.5 billion a year in lost revenue.

The current situation in the market is that, not only have the online digital presence and ever-increasing competition created voice customers who expect nothing less than top-notch services, but they are also unwilling to withhold their opinions, whether good or bad.

The first rule of any customer loyalty strategy is to establish a loyal relationship with your customers. So if you want to avoid losing customers, you'll need to have a long-term plan. However, it is important to note here that every increase in profits does not necessarily mean customer satisfaction. A business's revenue can have an upward trend due to many factors, few of them being a successful marketing campaign and increased productivity.

This means you can't rely solely on revenue as the only metric to measure a customer's success, but you'll need to include other metrics as well. They are all listed below with some explanation of what you need to ask yourself and your clients to ultimately achieve positive results.

The easiest and most obvious way to find out if a customer is happy is to simply ask them for their opinion. Then, after gathering all the results, use them to measure customer satisfaction. There are several techniques and methods to achieve this.

Net Promoter Score (NPS)

The most famous and widely used technique of all is the NPS survey which basically tells you whether or not your customers will recommend you to their friends, family and friends. The measurement scale for the Net Promoter Score ranges from 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely likely that they will recommend your business to others" and 1 being "very unlikely that they will recommend you to someone else". 'other ".

People who rate you with a 9 or a 10 are promoters. Those who gave ratings around 7 or 8 are passive and for the rest, they are detractors. The formula is simple: it will suffice to deduct the % of promoters from that of detractors. If your score is negative, it means that your customers are dissatisfied. The worst score you can get is -100, however if your overall score is positive or even above 50+, keep up the good work.

Net Promoter Score (NPS) = Percentage of Promoters – Percentage of Detractors

The Classic Satisfaction Index (CSAT)

The Customer Satisfaction Index can be measured by adding a simple question at the end of your survey, where you should ask your customers to rate their overall experience with your business.

Respondents can then choose one of the five options available, where 5 means extremely satisfied and 1 means very dissatisfied. Finally, all results should be weighted in a simple formula that will be expressed on a scale of percentages where a score of 100 means that your customers are completely satisfied with your business. The formula is:

% of satisfied customers = # of satisfied customers / # of satisfaction survey responses.

Here, it is important to note that only 4 and 5 are considered satisfied customers while 3 and less should not be inserted into the formula. Experts say a score of 3 is a sign that your business is poor, and it's a strong indication that you should follow up with the customer to see if things can improve.

The Customer Effort Score (CES)

The Customer Effort Score takes a slightly different approach to measuring customer satisfaction. This method does not focus on customer satisfaction with a certain product or service or your business in general, but rather seeks to capture the essence of resolving customer issues that may arise at any given time and measure how your business will support these demands.

The customer effort scale for measuring customer satisfaction ranges from 1 to 5, with 5 being "very satisfied with how you were able to solve my problem" and 1 being "extremely disappointed with your services". To measure the CES, you just need to calculate the average of all the scores.

In order to track all comments of a resolved issue in chronological order, you must match them with the transaction to which they refer.

At the end of the reporting period, you will be able to identify events requiring significant effort and work on them to resolve them.

Keep in mind that in every survey you do, it's always good practice to answer an open-ended question like "How can we improve in the future?"

To conclude, in today's market, where competition is so fierce, it has become mandatory to improve your service satisfaction standards. You can achieve this simply by having a clear idea of??the current state of your business. So, by evaluating customer satisfaction metrics, you'll get an overview of your current position and then compare it with industry benchmarks.

So take your time and calculate those numbers, then work on them by taking planned actions to improve each metric as well as your overall business satisfaction standards.
