This is because of heavy rains and snow fall in Shimla area and interiors of Himachal Pradesh. The best time to travel to Spiti Valley also depends on your itinerary, where you are traveling from and destination! The beauty of Spiti Valley is beyond description.

The best time to visit Spiti Valley is generally April and May when the weather is pleasant and you can choose to trek between the villages or stay at a hotel in Tal, Manali or Kinnaur. You can also stop by at McLeod Ganj, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh where it’s lively with great shopping options and good food. You can travel to Spiti Valley all through the year and continues to Dharamshala.

When is the best time for Spiti Valley road trip?

Spiti Valley is a land of high altitudes and alpine meadows. If you want to experience the beautiful world of Mother Nature, then Spiti Valley will be a great destination for you. You can reach Spiti Valley by two routes — one traverses the road from Delhi via Manali to Kaza, or other one goes via Shimla — Kinnaur Valley as Shimla — Kinnaur — Nako — Sumdo (Spiti Valley) — Tabo

Shimla to Kaza Route

The route via Shimla — Kinnaur is also known as NH-05. This is one of the best ways to reach Spiti Valley tour package and Kaza via Shimla. The highway remains open during the whole year as there are no high mountains that come in between. From Shimla to Kaza Route and via Kinnaur Valley is a popular route. There is no high mountain pass that comes on this route, it remains open throughout the year. You can make a journey to Kaza or Spiti via Shimla — Kinnaur all around the year because there is no high mountain pass that comes on this route.

Traveling to Spiti group tour, especially in the winter months, is not as easy as it reads. However, with the road conditions in winters on the Hindustan — Tibet highway being quite challenging and tough, one should be aware of them before planning a trip to this beautiful area. Traveling to Spiti Valley during winter is bliss, however extreme cold and cold winds can be devastating. Manali to Kaza Route

The Manali side of the road is not yet open till June month. You need to travel via Kullu route and then you will be able to reach Spiti Valley. However, you will have to face lots of snow fall or even blizzards during winter months in this region. Rohtang Pass first opens as early March and closes in May end. The route to Kaza is opened in June the first half of the year by which time the road is snow free. We recommend you book early if planning to travel via Manali side.

The Manali to Kaza route is one of the most beautiful, scenic and quite popular set of trekking routes in India. It is situated at an elevation of around 34,000 feet and also passes through some waterfalls and mountains. The trek covers a stretch of 18 to 19 km and takes about 5 hours to complete. When is the best time to visit Spiti Valley?

Plan ahead to visit Spiti Valley in the month of February and March. The weather in Spiti Valley during these months is ideal for all kinds of outdoor adventures. Moreover, the valley’s marshes add to the beauty and make it easier to spot wild life. You can also enjoy the different season of this place from early October till January or February. Weather in Spiti Valley is always beautiful and clear. Winter is a season with low temperatures and clear sky. The weather in summer is mild and humid. Spiti Valley in January — February — March

The Spiti Valley is one of the most astonishing destinations you can visit. The road from Manali to Kaza is closed and the winter months are upon us when there’s a dense blanket of white snow all around you in Spiti. We recommend reaching base camp either in January or February, but March is better if you want to go in the morning.

It is advisable to go to Spiti Valley in January-February-March only if you are well prepared. During this time, the temperature of the valley can go well below 0 deg C, so proper clothing must be worn. As snowfall can happen any time during this period and road closures may occur due to heavy snow, you must make sure there are buffer days for routine maintenance tasks.
