What is a money mindset? It’s your unique understanding or attitude towards money.

Good or bad. Frugal or carefree. Negative or positive. Wanting or generous. Your money mindset is your feeling towards money. And if you’re like so many people out there, you might just need a little tune up on your attitude towards finances. Because believe it or not, if you have a negative money mindset, then you are probably struggling in some aspect of your finances.

Plus, the more you know and understand your money habits, spending, investments, etc. the more you’ll feel confident and empowered, creating a more positive money mindset.

Reading books that will influence your mind, lifestyle, habits etc. in a positive way will help create a confident money mindset. The great thing about trying to change your life is you don’t have to know it all! Books are out there to help you grow and learn and put into practice the changes you want to make. So start simple and pick up a book.

  1. Understand your past

Did you grow up in a home that financially struggled? Did your parents teach you about the importance of money and responsibility? Did you have an allowance? Did you give generously?

Knowing your past is just as important as planning your future. Your current money mindset is created from your past experiences, and taught beliefs. So understand why you feel the way you do about money. Good or bad, acknowledge and learn from it so you can have a more assured way of thinking.

  1. Visualize

If you want to reach your goals you have to see your goals. Visualize, in depth and detail, what you want in life. Remember it and come back to it whenever you feel discouraged or defeated. If you can see what your home or retirement or vacation or family looks like, you’ll be more inclined to stick with your finances and have a growth mindset.
