Booking Tiger Safari Permit at Bandhavgarh
Posted: Jan 06, 2023
Situated in the remote corner of the State of Madhya Pradesh in India. Bandhavgarh is tiger heaven. It is home to more than seventy-five tigers in an area of 1100 sq. km plus. The park is most beautiful and charismatic housing ancient artifacts and ruins within the confines of dense forests. It is home to a wide variety of wild animals, reptiles, and birds. The forests comprise Sal and its associates besides the extensive presence of bamboo.
One unique characteristic of the terrain is the presence of swampy grasslands that slows down the prey when chased by a tiger. Thus, tigers prefer hunting in the swampy grasslands and are frequently seen by visitors while in the act.
Due to Bandhavgarh National Park being one of the best tiger landscapes a large number of tourists flock to the park every year. Filmmakers, photographers, wildlife enthusiasts, and holidaymakers arrive from overseas in good enough numbers beside the domestic crowd.
Tourism Zones
The park is divided into three tourism zone in a 20% area. These zones reside in the core area of the park.
Tala
Magadhi
Khitauli
There few zones in the buffer but these are the least preferred. But the buffer is good for bird watching and occasional tigers are seen. The core zones are restrictive with a limited number of vehicle entries. The safari is conducted on open jeeps registered with the department. These are the best means of excursions since private vehicles are not allowed. Another option is to book a seat in the canter at the Gate but that is shared by 12 people. The cost-benefit is not much. The cost of a jeep safari is around Rs.5000 including the guide fee and jeep hire. It seats six tourists and a guide.
You can choose any zone in the core for safari, but you need a permit booking in advance. You can also book entry at the Gate but the permit may have been exhausted by that time. Hence book the safari permit in advance at MPOnline Portal. You can also book your rides through a tour operator you know well. The operator will help you choose the best zone as well.
The game rides are conducted once in the morning and then in the late evening which ends before sunset. In the morning there is a designated place for breakfast called center point. Toilets are limited in the zones. Winter is cold hence carry a lot of warm clothing. Carry a handbook on Bandhavgarh when taking a ride.
Bandhavgarh is 170 km from Jabalpur Airport in Madhya Pradesh and a number of flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai are available.
