For long, the Himalayas were known for the most rugged and extreme adventures. The daunting peaks, extreme weather and precarious journey kept many holiday seekers away from it in spite of their Himalayan dream.

However time has changed and so has a journey to the Himalayas. With the extension of road, airstrips and availability of luxury and comfortable lodges, The Himalayan Shangri-La is now a holiday destination.

What are the easy treks in Nepal like?

Easy treks in Nepal are treks in the middle hills or Himalayan foothills with habitation of aboriginals. The trails dwell between the altitudes of 1500 m to 3,500 m. Each day walking hours will be around 5 hrs on a well maintained trail with altitude gains of 100 m to 500 m. Most importantly, the trails have luxury lodges or comfortable lodges with heating and en-suite toilets and hot showers.

A reasonably fit person with a passion for active holiday can do easy treks in Nepal. Here is a link for more information about easy trek in Nepal with a comfortable lodge.

The trail passes through the Rhododendron and Maple forests and comes across charming Gurung village tucked on the top of farmed terraces. The Gurung ethnic group sends the most preferred recruits to the British Gurkha regiment.

Youngest ethnic group migrating to Nepal also brought strong Tibetan Buddhist culture and art with them. Mane walls with piles of Mantra carved stones, prayer wheels and flags, Stupa and mystic monasteries celebrating the dances of mountain gods make these villages Tibet outside of Tibet.

Easy trek in Everest, starts with flight to Edmund Hilary airport at Lukla and then heads upstream Bhote Koshi River crossing several times on suspension bridges. The ridge above Namche bazaar at 3,440 m gives the first glimpse of Mt Everest. The hidden village of Khumjung at the base of their sacred mountain Khumbi-La exhibits the day to day life of Sherpa people.

Alternatively, a circuit of Namche – Thame – Kongde avoids the seasonal trekkers’ crowd and allows one to enjoy the less explored Himalayan scenery and Sherpa culture.
