Choose a time and trigger

Never go for an exact time, but for a general time such as morning when you wake up fresh or during your lunch break. The term ‘trigger’ here refers to something you always do on a routine basis like grabbing the first cup of coffee, brush your teeth, brush your hair, pray or any other thing.

Find a quite location

Often early morning is great, before others in your home might wake up and making lots of noise. Other people may even grab a fine spot in a park or on the beach or any other peaceful setting. It truly does not matter where you sit—as long as you can meditate and involve yourself in mindfulness exercises without being disturbed for some time.

Sit relaxed

Don’t fuss too much regarding how you sit, what you slip on, what you settle on and more. While some like to sit on a pillow on the floor with their back resting against a wall, others find it best to sit upright and cross-legged on a yoga mat. However if in any of the cases you feel uncomfortable, always change it. Let’s say if you are facing difficulty sitting on floor you should grab hold of a chair or couch.

Stay focused on your breath

As you inhale, observe your breath in through your nostrils, then into your throat, lungs and stomach. Sit upright, don’t close your eyes, keep them open and look at the ground with a flowing focus. But if you want to meditate with closed eyes, you can also do that. As you exhale, observe your breathe out into the exterior world. If you want to count, you can do that too…one breathe in, two breathe out, three breathe in…and likewise. Perform two sets of ten and you will be done with meditation.
