The suspense builds, only a few days away from the debut of the CX-3, Mazda’s new compact crossover SUV at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Very few facts about the all new Mazda CX-3 Crossover have been released.

The only known visual description is a sophisticated artist’s rendition of the vehicle in Mazda’s signature SOUL Metallic red. Sleek lines and airbrush effects portray the CX in motion, streaking across the page.

The sketch reveals just a few details of the body design. Visible is the five point signature wing grill popular on the Mazda 3 model. Long sloping hood lines flow over super arched wheel wells and continue toward the rear in a blur of strong lean chassis. Not clear in the sketch is the question of three or five door capacity, however most speculate five doors to be more the norm for a utility vehicle. Regardless this vehicle promises to be an attractive, sporty and practical.

What is obvious is the Japanese automaker’s years of technological development. KODO design, inspired by the natural motion of animals is obvious in the body style. That brilliant red color could only be obtained by Mazda’s Three Layer Wet Paint System; a process where primer, base and sealer are applied with the elimination of drying between applications. The CX-3 is surely manufactured with high tech bio plastics adding strength and safety while decreasing the weight of the body.

The muscle under the hood remains a mystery, however several possibilities exist in Mazda’s SKYACTIV family of engine technology. The North American model will feature the 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine. Certainly this new model will incorporate one of the SKYACTIV transmission systems either the redesigned conventional automatic transmission or the SKYACTIV-MT Manual.

Finally, on November 18th the public will be satisfied to get a glimpse behind those tinted windows and discover the new model still loaded with Mazda tradition. Many of the i-ACTIVESENSE technologies available in other models include: blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, advanced emergency brake assist and brake force distribution, and radar usage to assist brake application and monitor other vehicles. Suspected comfort options must include the MZD Connect infotainment system for easy access via smartphone to all media, and possibly a heads up technology that projects information onto the windshield.

The mystery and suspense is surly worth the wait. At the Global debut, auto fans await the unveiling of a new Mazda model sure to capture their hearts.
