All computer owners are aware that they should back up their computers. When computers first became popular, backup options were limited. Now, as technology grows, our options are becoming virtually unlimited. Let's review three of the most popular backup options, along with their advantages and disadvantages.

Cloud

What is the cloud? It's just a term for storing things on the internet. It is called the cloud because it has no physical presence, only virtual.

More and more people and businesses are using the cloud to backup their data. Cloud services are offered by independent companies that specialize in storing and sharing anything you want to back up into the cloud. Major companies like Microsoft, Apple and Amazon also offer cloud storage to their customers.

The cloud is a great option for backup, but it should not be your only option. Cloud servers can crash, fail or get broken into. If you use the cloud, you should also have a physical way to save your data.

External Hard Drive

External hard drives are hard drives that are not inside of computers. Many people use these to backup their files. If they need HDD data recovery for their computer, they can simply restore their files using their external hard drive.

You should get an external hard drive that is a little bigger than your computer's hard drive. If your hard drive in your computer is 500GB, buy a drive that's 1TB. This will allow you to store plenty of data, and have ample space in case you need it.

Flash Drive

Flash drives are small drives that fit in the palm of your hand. They can be used to backup your entire system. Some are small, and only offer 1GB of space. Others offer 512GB of space or more.

The advantage is they are small and compact, so you can take them anywhere. This is also a disadvantage. You could easily lose it or damage it if you are not careful.

Other Options

Raid is still a backup option for people and businesses. Just like the other types of backup, you don't want to rely solely on raid. While it is built with redundancy in mind, if two or more hard drives fail it can cause problems.

If you need raid server data recovery, consider Manchester Data Recovery. They can recover data from any type of drive, including mac recovery. If you'd like to learn more, please visit their website.www.manchester-datarecovery.co.uk
