Document Checklist for Parent Visa Applicant

The parents as the applicant must provide:

  1. 1. Current passport (completed with photo, personal details, passport issue and expiry dates)
  2. 2. Optional documents based on personal matters, such as a national identity card, a proof of change of name (including the cause of change of name and documents that show other names you have been known by), a marriage certificate, etc.
  3. 3. Private health insurance (mandatory for visa 103 and visa 870 only)
  4. 4. Photographs, where you need to provide 4 recent photos of anyone included in the application and it must be required:
      • 45mm x 35mm
      • Should be taken less than 6 months
      • Good quality color.
      • A full-face review of your head and shoulders.
      • Taken with a plain light-colored background.
      • Can wear glasses and head covering for religious reasons.

The child, who will be the sponsor, must provide the following documents:

  1. Current passport (completed with photo, personal details, passport issue and expiry dates)
  2. Evidence of permanent resident or citizenship status in Australia
  3. Evidence of financial capability to support your parents while in Australia

You must also provide:

  2. 2. Evidence of the dependent’s relationship with your parents
  3. 3. Form 1229 – Consent for the child under 18 years old to migrate to Australia

The consent should be signed by the person who has legal right to decide where the child lives but is not able to move with the child.

For any dependents who are above 18 years old:
