Dentures are known as false teeth, are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth; they are supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable. However, there are many different denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants.

Removable partial dentures are for patients who are missing some of their teeth on a particular arch. Fixed partial dentures, also known as "crown and bridge" dentures, are made from crowns that are fitted on the remaining teeth.

Dentures can help patients through:

Mastication, as chewing ability is improved by replacing edentulous areas with denture teeth.

Aesthetics, because the presence of teeth gives a natural appearance to the face, and wearing a denture to replace missing teeth provides support for the lips and cheeks and corrects the collapsed appearance that results from the loss of teeth.

Pronunciation, because replacing missing teeth, especially the anteriors, enables patients to speak better. There is especially improvement in pronouncing words containing sibilants or fricatives.

Self-esteem, because improved looks and speech boost confidence in the ability to interact socially.

Types of Removal Dentures :

  • Acrylic dentures
  • Cast metal partial denture
  • Flexible denture
  • Precision attachment dentures

Acrylic dentures :

The ordinary conventional denture Most commonly used. The dentures are made of acrylic material. These dentures are now being replaced by more functional & comfortable BPS dentures. (ask your Doctor for more details)

Cast metal partial denture

The base of these dentures are made of Cast Metaland the teeth and gums in acrylic material.

These dentures are more long lasting than acrylic.

Cast-metal partial dentures are so named because their underlying framework (substructure and tooth clasps) is custom fabricated (cast) using a metal alloy. Denture teeth and gum-colored plastic are then added to this framework to complete the appliance.

Precision attahment dentures:

A removal denture unit, is fixed to the exixting adjacent tooth structure, by means of a PRECISION ATTACHMENT UNIT
