To create an effective and engaging design, a designer needs to follow some principles of design which are also known as rules of design. The principles of design are

  • Emphasis

  • Balance and alignment

  • Contrast

  • Repetition

  • Proposition

  • Movement and

  • White Space

Graphic designing just like any other has some strict rules which make it look stable and balanced. If your design is missing just a single element, it will look ineffective and weak.

  1. EMPHASIS

The main principle of designing is the focal point of the design. Knowing the order and importance of each element and where they should be placed. If you are creating any design the first thing that should come to your mind is what you want your audience sees first. Create a mental picture of it, and then organize everything in your mind which will later be executed as a design. Make sure the way you organize it, and the order in the design should be in a communicating manner. Without an outline for writing or a blueprint for building if you directly jump on designing your design will be a mess.

  1. BALANCE AND ALIGNMENT

Every element used and placed on a web page has a weight of its own. The weight of the element is determined by its size, texture, and color. Just like we don’t keep all our interior furniture in one corner of the room, the same way you can’t keep all dominating elements on one part of the page. Without balance on your page, the user will be off from it. While using symmetrical design balances equally weighted elements on both sides of the center line. While using an asymmetrical design can be used with elements of different weights to create an equal balance.

  1. CONTRAST

Contrast is nothing but what creates space and difference between the elements on the page. The background you will be using in your website and the elements used on it should be different from each other but go harmoniously together. It is very important for the designer to know those contrasting elements will let the audience know what is important and what can be ignored. How will they understand if everything looks the same? Using contrast fonts can uplift the look of the whole website. If you add many different kinds of fonts you’ll just mess up your website. You can try graphic design courses in Surat.

  1. REPETITION

When you limit yourself to options, you’ll be forced to use repeated elements. But that is a normal thing and a very important thing to do as repeating designs strengthens a design. When you use any element just once, it might look like an error, but if used multiple times it can make it look more complete. Repetition is an important thing to do to make your brand look more strong.

  1. PROPOSITION

The proposition is all about how well your elements' weight and visual size relate to each other. The relation between the elements makes the whole design the center of attention. This proposition can only be achieved when the elements are placed perfectly in the right alignment, balance, and contrast.

  1. MOVEMENT

Movement is how you want to control your user’s eye. What do you want them to see first, and in what direction do you want their eyes to move? Movement lets you create a story and brings a narration of your work. Though elements bring balance and everything without movement it will be just a mess.

  1. WHITE SPACE

As every other principle talks about how you should add the elements, only this principle states what you should not add. White space is the empty space around your elements. White space is very crucial on a web page. White space clears our vision and lets our eyes know that a particular group of elements are different from other elements. Giving space on the web page brings an entirely different image and idea to the user, this makes your audience more engaging.

USE HIERARCHY

When you are planning to use many elements in your design, make sure you bring and add the right visual weight to the important elements to convey your message. This way, you can bring the user's eye to the important part of the page. This can work in many ways like using bold texts, typography, important messages at the higher part of the page, or using some shape elements.

CONSIDER PROXIMITY

Proximity helps you create belongingness to the website. Placing similar or related elements together shows their relationship to the user. Clustering your elements together can make your website look unorganized.

OPTIMIZE COLOR FOR YOUR DESIGN

One of the most important elements to convey your message to the user unconsciously is by using the right color. The right color conveys your messages emotionally to the users. Knowing color therapy works in a great way with your website. Blue makes the user feel calm and trust you. REd riles their emotions to the extreme. Orange shows quirkiness.

USE DESIGN AS A COMMUNICATION

There should be a message behind your designs and elements. Graphics and designs should have clear communication. If there's trouble in getting a clear message, try different things and make sure you convert a clear and correct message through your design. These parts decide if you have a successful design or a poor design. Web designing is a strong platform in IT industry. Flutter training in Surat is available at the top institute.

ALWAYS HAVE BACKUP DESIGNS

Having options is always a good way of getting your work done in the right way. Make sure when you approach a design you have three or more options on standby so if you can’t get what you imagined from your first design you’ll have a perfect chance to use your more ideas.

Keep your design simple and easy to understand and most importantly engaging for users to know and understand you easily. Limiting your elements and color can bring more belongingness to your website. Avoid using colors that clash with each other. Unless you want your website to look gaudy don’t use all bright colors.
