Get the most of salads by adding variety to salad bars

Whether you are eating out and hitting up menu for food choices or trying to create your own salad for a dinner party, make sure to go for healthy choices. Even though you are eating a salad, it does not mean that it is healthy for you and it is important to eat the options that are best for your health even when it comes to eating from salad bars. This helps to get the best nutrient punch and enjoy a crisp and delicious salad. Even vegetable juices acts as a great way to enjoy healthy nutritional juices.

To get the maximum benefit from a salad, start by choosing dark green choices. The dark leafy greens like romaine or spinach are packed with essential and great nutrients. They provide plenty of folate, vitamin C and fiber content which cannot be obtained from eating light green veggies in salads. Try to add color to your salad by using colorful veggies. It can be green peppers, red pepper, red tomatoes, broccoli, carrots and beet root. All these vegetables are packed with great nutrients and make the best salad bars.

Instead of going with high fat proteins, choose lean proteins for your salad. Get plenty of protein by adding kidney beans and chickpeas. A half cup of beans provide adequate protein. Other best ways to add protein can be eating hard cooked eggs, cottage cheese or just low fat cheese. Ensure not to add ham or anything oil or mayonnaise based.

Good salad bars consist of something with crunch. Add more crunches by using sunflower seeds, walnuts or sesame seeds. All these are better options than Asian noodles. Try to add a punch with crunch of Parmesan cheese that makes your salad tangy as well. If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to relish salad then sip from the range of healthy nutritional juices.

While creating salad bars, don’t forget to garnish your salad with fresh fruits. Avoid choosing from canned fruits. Rather add grapes, watermelon, fresh berries, peaches, oranges for garnishing. Using a wrong dressing will ruin the entire salad. Avoid fatty creamy dressings unless they are specifically low fat options. Using some vinegar, olive oil or black pepper gives the best salad experience.

Considering that your whole family enjoys healthy eating, take time to eat from the best salad bars. Vegetable salad is something that kids find with strange options but adding enough amount of ranch dressing makes the kids enjoy all the combinations used on their salad plates. Getting kids to eat healthy seems to be a struggle but with giving them options of interesting salad recipes, healthy nutritional juices etc. motivates them to eat healthy.
