Master your chinese!

If you want to prove how good your Chinese is then the best way to go about that is by going for the HSK which is the Chinese Proficiency Test. This is Chinas national standardized test which was set up and developed by the country’s Beijing Language and Culture University to make an assessment on the Chinese language proficiency amongst non-native speakers such as foreigners, overseas Chinese students and minorities of China. This is an international standardized exam format.

The tests are administered in 6 levels of which each level has a different set of rules set within the Chinese (中国語 ) mainframe.

In order to be a proficient Chinese speaker, there is the first level where students who get to understand and use very simple Chinese phrases thus meeting basic needs for communication and gain the knowledge to extend their understanding of the Chinese language.

As for those in the second level of the HSK test, the students are generally expected to have a great understanding of Chinese. Students should be able to communicate with ease with the ability to exchange information on familiar issues.

As the levels continue to rise, a level 3 HSK student should be able to comfortably communicate in Chinese routinely in their professional, academic and everyday lives. The students should also be able to manage most communication in Chinese within China.

After passing the first 3 levels, the Chinese students should be ready to challenge the fourth level where a conversation in strict Chinese over a wide area of topics can be administered fluently with whichever native Chinese speakers. For foreigners, this must be quite exciting as you get to feel like a native Chinese with every word that you spill out.

By the time you understand Chinese fluency, level 5 students should be able to now read whatever Chinese magazines and newspapers that come to mind, comfortably enjoy and understand Chinese films and one should also be able to give a speech in Chinese. As much as this is a challenge, it gets better once you start to get a grasp of this lovely universal language.

Finally, the students that are able to pass their levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 exams are faced with a final test where they are expected to comprehend both written and spoken information in full Chinese at ease and they are required to express themselves in Chinese (中国語 ) both orally and also o paper.
