2016 Kia Sorento Makes Its Debut at LA Auto Show

The 2016 Kia Sorento made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show which ran from November 21-30 of this year. Kia thought it was best to take it to the streets of Paris as its prime spot to debut the new SUV a few months prior to its launch within the United Sates. Reports say that the new Sorento appears almost as a twin to the model that will be parading around Europe.

The design is a bit new compared to the other models of the Kia car, and is offered in a total of five different trim levels, which include L, LX, EX, SX and even an SXL size. The prices for the cars and different trims will become more obtainable once the commercial for the official launch comes closer to date, though Kia claims that the pricing won’t be too far off from the models that are currently on the streets. The redesigned model also has a boxier, and more of a "tiger nose" grille appearance to it, as it's more uptight and closed in. The wheelbase has also been stretched out to approximately 3.1 inches, which brings the total to 109.4, which adds another 0.2 inches to the total width of the car. The fog lights have also moved closer to the edges of the vehicle.

Kia confirmed at the Los Angeles Auto Show that the 2016 Kis Sorento will come with the option of three different gas engines, including a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine, which is good to kick out about 240 horsepower. The interior also kicks out a 2.4-liter inline-four GDI which will be able to produce up to 185 horsepower. The engine will also be able to generate 290 horsepower with a 3.3-liter V6 engine, which not only makes the car smooth in eye appeal, but also in the quality of ride it’ll give to its users as well. But this also means that the new Sorento will not be able to kick out as much horsepower as the previous model was able to. Luckily, Kia also confirmed that the cars suspension and steering was tweaked and fixed, which will also give users a smoother ride.

Kia revealed that the interior of the car has more of a soft-touch to it, like Nappa leather throughout the whole interior, and the design which will blend well with the smooth exterior look that vehicle gives off to anyone with a glancing eye. The interior will feature soft-touch materials that are on the instrument and door panels, and on the center console. The front seats will both be heated and ventilated, and the back seats will also have a heating feature to them. The cargo room is also said to be up to 74 cubic feet of room to pack and cram all that you need into the new model.

There are also some new technologies that come equipped in the Sorento, which will give the drive some driving aids to help ensure them a safer and better ride, no matter if it’s a drive to work or a cross-country trip to Grandma’s house during the holidays. They’re featuring such things like blind spot detection, smart cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, and even a surround view monitor to let the driver know just what’s going on at all times. Clari-Fi music restoration also makes an appearance within the vehicle and keeps the sound quality at an all-time high, removing glitches. Curfew alert, speed alert, geo-fencing and driving score also come equipped.
