Easter 2015: Where to bring your children to color Easter eggs, dress as bunnies and more

Destinations all around Michiana will host special children’s events as Easter approaches Sunday, April 5. There are Easter egg hunts where children can scramble for brightly-colored eggs to decorate their baskets, and photo opportunities where children can get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny.
Some places even offer children a chance to dress up in rabbit ears and get close with baby farm animals, so be sure your little ones don’t miss out on these events around Michiana.

FAMILY EASTER EGG COLORING PROGRAM — GOSHEN
Up to 20 children can color Easter eggs beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at the Ox Bow Haus Shelter in Ox Bow County Park, and adults can then hide the eggs for the youngsters to find. The Elkhart County Parks department will provide eggs and candy for the event.
Parents or guardians must pre-register their children and pay $3 each by Thursday, April 2. The program is limited to 20 children.

EASTER EVENT AT LINTON’S ENCHANTED GARDENS — ELKHART
Hunt for eggs, pet baby animals and get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 28, 29 and April 4 at theLinton’s Enchanted Gardens at 315 C.R. 17 in Elkhart.
Organizers will create a little village for baby ducks and chicks just for the event, complete with real grass, hills and tiny buildings. The ducklings will even have their own water slide.
A petting zoo where children can get close with baby lambs, goats and a calf will be available. You can even feed the animals by purchasing food at the petting zoo for 50 cents.
With every donation of canned food, children can get their photos taken with the Easter Bunny for free. The food will be donated to several local food banks through the Kitchens United for Elkhart County.
An "Easter Eggspress" train will also bring children on a trip to the Easter egg hunting patch for $4.99.
BUNNY PHOTO EXPERIENCE AND SIMON KIDGITS CLUB EASTER EVENT — MISHAWAKA
Children can get their photograph taken with Easter Bunny at 10 a.m. Friday, March 20, to Saturday, April 4, in the JCPenny court at theUniversity Park Mall in Mishawaka.
Organizers will also create a comfortable environment for children with special needs so they can get their photographs taken with the Easter Bunny from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, March 29. They will reduce sensory triggers around the mall by turning music in the mall off, dimming the lights and shutting down the fountain.
There will also be a Simon Kidgits Club easter event at the mall from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 4, where children will be able to take part in a number of Easter events and games. The Simon Kidgits Club is a children’s program which focuses on health, wellness, education, safety and education.
WAKARUSA CHAMBER ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT — WAKARUSA
There will be a free Easter egg hunt beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at the Wakarusa Memorial Park, sponsored by the Wakarusa Chamber of Commerce. Children between the ages of one and eight are invited to attend the event, but they will have to bring their own baskets.
EASTER EXTRAVAGANZA — DOWAGIAC, MICH.
Children will have a chance to dress up as bunnies and hunt for eggs at the 15th annual Easter Extravaganza Saturday, March 28, at the Beckwith Park in downtown Dowagiac, Mich., hosted by the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce.
Costumed children and their parents should gather or the "Be a Bunny" costume contest at 11:30 a.m. at the Haggin-Wimberley Memorial Bandstand, where prizes will be awarded to the most colorful, most original and best overall costumes.
There will be two separate Easter egg hunts which will begin at noon. Youngsters up to five years of age will hunt for eggs at the Haggin-Wimberley Memorial Bandstand, and children between the ages of six to 10 will search for theirs on the lawn of the Depot Drive at Beeson Street.
Children can also get their faces painted, decorate cookies and play in a bounce house at the event.
