Tips and Techniques to Remodel Your Miniature Garden

Remodeling of miniature garden improves its appearance along with extending its lifetime. Also, with change in seasons, different plants survive accordingly and they have to be replaced based on varied conditions for making your miniature garden grow efficiently.

Procure materials

  • Plan, design and gather the materials and tools that are required for remodeling.

  • Organic matter and nutrients leaches out of containers much faster than they do in the ground. Hence every planting season the potting mix has to be replenished with potting soil comprising compost or manure and fillers to aid drainage.
  • Dead branches in the shrubs and trees have to be pruned up for making a way for them to grow.

Amend the soil

  • Amend the soil to improve its texture. This plays a vital role in miniature gardening.
  • Organic potting soil that does not contain any fertilizer or any polymers should be considered because fresh potting soil contains enough nutrients for efficient growth of the plant and keeps them healthy for a couple of years.
  • Plants like conifers require a bit of air around their roots. Hence, effective drainage materials like perlite or vermiculite have to be added to the potting soil in case of their absence.
  • Consistent temperature and moisture content levels can be maintained by adding layers of mulch, which prevents weed growth.

Planting miniature flowers, trees, and shrubs

Plant up your garden with different types of flowers, trees, shrubs, succulents, ferns, etc., that contribute a fresh and appealing look.

Refreshing old accessories or replacing old accessories with new ones

  • Refresh the existing accessories or replace the old accessories with the new ones to make your miniature garden look new.
