Common Mistakes When Buying Overcoats

Overcoats fascinate the masses around the world as they tend to define personal majesty and structural magnificence to greater heights. Moreover, the thrilling movies of western countries also cast a dominant impact upon the popular minds when they watch how superbly adjusted and precisely stitched overcoats sensationalize the characters as well as the events surrounding those them with glorious charm. As the history goes, the supreme idea of having a larger coat or overcoats was initially perceived and introduced in the 17th century Europe and the prime intention was to serve dual objectives. Firstly, to provide yet another piece of protective layer for the expensive coats and / or sweaters and secondly to put additional covering in order to thwart any adverse impact of biting cold and killing breeze. But gradually as the expansive cover widely hailed and as it eventually met with immense and immediate success, the tradition of putting up overcoats became widely popular in its approach and men from every strata of life and occupation aligned the idea of such noble attires as the overcoats with their social dignity. In reality, however, the overcoats have proved to be extremely handy when you are up against the most harsh weather and the killing breeze seems to be biting into the guileless human body.

But still, there is much more to be concerned about while buying an overcoat and only acclaimed and truly professional Custom Tailor and drapers and/or trend setters should be consulted for such elegance oriented assignments. Numerous mistakes have come to light while trying to procure an overcoat with considerable measure and size. Following points should be harped upon while thinking of seeking an overcoat:

A). Fabric:

It has been the most primary and prominent factor that should be kept in mind while an overcoat is purchased or ordered to be made. Obviously, thin and feeble cloth should be avoided and one must always go for a heavier fabric that has larger content of wool in it. Veteran tailors across the world unanimously opine that the weight of the whole fabric should be around 4 pounds (1.5 kg) for an averaged size men and then sans doubt, thicker coats run for even longer periods of time. For instance, Cashmere coats look stylish and are warm too and the coats made from them generally reveal cuffs and the collar but such dress material is hugely preferred by the moths too. Hence, by going for such an overcoat material is likely to shot-up the price while the warmth and promising layout would not be there too. The dream blend is wool and cashmere in which just 10% share should be of Cashmere material.

B). Sleeves:

The length of the overcoats should be full and should totally cover the sleeves of the suits, that are worn beneath the overcoats. By having sleeves of proper full lengths, the idea of securing a thorough protection from cold and winds can easily be sought. In short, the sleeves should cover the wrists properly.

C). Lengths and Fitting:

Overcoats, since earlier times, used to be of full lengths that have cascaded down to ankles. However, in recent times, the younger men have widely expressed their preference for knee lengths, which is found to be a better option for those who frequently remain in the field for occupational purposes. Finally, it has to be entirely a personal and the most thought over option if one wants to go for a knee length or a full range of overcoats, but the later option ensures more protection from cold and killing breeze.

Besides, in case of perfect fitting as well, the overcoats should be loose enough so it could fit over the coats or jackets, shirts and vests that are (normally) put up beneath the overcoats.
