A college study abroad is indeed a challenge but a cherishable life time experience

For a considerable number of students going for a college study abroad and experiencing university life affords independence, freedom and a remarkable opportunity to acquire the skills of life which prove to be very useful in the long run. It can prove to be a major event in a person’s life. While studying abroad, there is a great opportunity for the enhancement of various qualities of a person including those related to academics, personal as well as professional. It is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. But in addition to having a lot of advantages in doing so, there are certain challenges which might in the way. Once a person can understand how to deal with these challenges then it is very beneficial because it will teach him lessons on the various ups and downs of life.

There are several reasons why one should choose for a college study abroad. These reasons include:

1. An experience of the foreign culture: One may see the pictures of the various fascinating things present in the foreign countries all his life but travelling to that place in person is a completely different experience because it helps in acquiring a first-hand experience and an in-depth knowledge of the appreciable foreign culture.
2. An improvement of the second language skills: While studying abroad there is perfect opportunity for a person to try out and learn a totally new foreign language. There may also be an addition of phrases and colloquial words to the vocabulary.
3. Learning the process of cross cultural communication: The society is becoming global at a very fast pace at present. Hence it is very important for a person to posses certain skill which will help him to communicate with people of other cultures. Studying abroad helps a person in becoming familiar with the different traditions and customs prevailing in that country.
4. Becoming more independent and managing the finances: When a person studies abroad he is cut off from the usual support system and so he learns to take the responsibility for his own actions. He also learns to familiarize himself with the different living expenses and understands how to manage his own because there is no one on whom he can rely on.

5. An opportunity to increase his employment prospects: While selecting a person for a job employers give value to a prospective candidate who has an international experience, can deal with people of different culture and knows about the foreign languages. The experience of a college study abroad helps in expanding the skills of a person and separates him from the other applicants of the job.

6. Building a network for the future: Along with making new friends, studying abroad helps a person in making various contacts with the professionals. Since the course loads are found to be lighter comparatively so the student also has the opportunity and advantage of doing part time jobs or being an intern which will eventually help him in gaining all the more experience.

Hence we see that taking up decision of studying abroad is very advantageous for the student in a lot of aspects.
