Black Friday FC26 Frenzy: The Ultimate Guide to This Year's Biggest Event
Posted: Dec 07, 2025
The Black Friday event is officially live, marking the first major promotion of the year. The sudden, intense pace has been a challenge to adapt to. Yesterday was entirely dedicated to creating Evolution recommendations for our official account, analyzing player cards and values—effectively doubling our usual workload. Even producing the daily recap was a monumental task, taking nearly five hours last Friday.
Looking back at the FC PRO event, its scale pales in comparison to the Black Friday onslaught and has largely faded from memory. Among last week's SBCs, the 97-pace Silva showed potential but seems better suited to shine in Silver Squads. Midma, due to a slightly larger build and stiffer feel, still doesn't quite match up to the irreplaceable Pipina. The new player's SBC, released as a Black Friday teaser at 350k FUT coins, initially caused concern, but subsequent SBCs like Pacho, Gyokeres, and the Alberto/Cafu pick have been more reasonably priced. It's commendable that the requirements for the latter were adjusted downward following the market crash for fodder cards, making it more accessible. Alberto, in particular, is a very solid option.
Regarding last week's content drops, aside from a somewhat underwhelming 8x Player Pick, the rest were essentially must-dos. The return of daily login rewards is a welcome addition. Overall, the quality of content releases during Black Friday is exceptionally high, arguably surpassing even Team of the Year or Team of the Season in terms of raw value during a normal phase of the game. However, this comes with a significant increase in daily tasks. What used to take 10-15 minutes now takes twice as long, adding to the feeling of being constantly busy.
In terms of gameplay modes, last week featured multiple tournaments and the Ultimate Cup. Completing everything is unrealistic, so it's advisable to pick and choose based on reward preferences. The daily "Play 1, Win 1" objective is manageable. However, back-to-back high-intensity competitions can create pressure, stemming from the fear of missing out on rewards or falling behind others. The Thunder Week's Flash Events initially seemed daunting, but their conditions aren't excessively harsh. That said, time-limited Evolutions requiring completion within three days can be problematic for players who are traveling or have busy schedules.
Evolution has been a major focus. The "Star of Moncada" path was initially misunderstood as a final-stage Evolution but proves better for building a foundation player. When combined with other Evolutions like Catalyst, it can turn a low-rated card into a beast outperforming much higher-rated ones, showcasing the immense potential of the current system. This year's Flash Evolutions are more complex than last year's, with paths like "Star of Moncada" and the new "Toure's Song" creating a vast web of combinations. Players must decide whether to invest multiple Evolutions into one or two players or spread them out. While the system can be overwhelming, it's a crucial way for free-to-play and low-spending players to significantly upgrade their squads and adds a deep layer of team-building fun.
The Thunder Player Packs, if not for the distraction of Flash Evolutions, would be generating even more hype. The pool is stacked with desirable cards and has low duplicate rates. Top-tier wants include: Bellingham, whose upgrade to a Golden Tiki Taka PlayStyle makes him meta-ready; Musiala, a dribbling maestro with traits like Finesse Shot, Power Shot, and Trivela, perfect for a central role; Gareth Bale, set to terrorize the right wing with blistering pace, key PlayStyles, and the crucial new RM position; Ait Boni, a midfield goal threat with a new CM position and Box-to-Box PlayStyle+; and Theo Hernández, whose card art and stats evoke his dominant TOTY version from last year.
For value picks, Diogo Dalot is a steal with good skills, a solid model, and a strong PlayStyle foundation. Stanway boasts elite passing stats and meta-relevant passing PlayStyles at a bargain price, even with 3-star skills and no natural CM position. Jurrien Timber offers key defensive PlayStyles like Block and Jockey for a low cost, with potential for more Silver upgrades if Arsenal performs well.
Disappointments include Raphinha, who received minimal upgrades and awkward positioning; Ryan Gravenberch, whose Golden Relentless PlayStyle isn't ideal for a midfielder, and who lacks passing traits; David Beckham, who despite a pace boost, lacks defensive presence and optimal positioning; and Dennis Bergkamp, who received no meaningful changes and feels like a filler Icon.
In summary, the Black Friday event is a content avalanche of player packs, Evolutions, and new modes. The best approach is to try to enjoy the frenzy of FC26's first major promotion. Whether you pack a million-coin monster or a solid, affordable starter, the goal is to improve your team and have fun.
