In today’s real estate market, buyers form opinions quickly, often before they ever step inside a home. Staging may involve working with a seller’s existing furnishings or renting furniture for a vacant property. Regardless of the approach, well-staged homes consistently perform better, often selling more quickly and netting five percent or more compared to unstaged properties. In addition, staged homes photograph beautifully, which makes online listings far more appealing and engaging.
One important thing to understand about staging is that not every room in a home needs to be staged to perfection. Especially in vacant houses, staging should focus on the areas that matter most to buyers. In my experience, the living room, dining area, and master bedroom are the most important spaces to furnish attractively. These rooms help buyers imagine how they would live in the home and create an emotional connection. Other rooms, such as secondary bedrooms or bonus spaces, are not nearly as critical and can often be left unstaged without negatively impacting the sale.
