Is it better to hire security personnel yourself or pay a professional company to handle the background checks and hiring? By using a company, as a business owner, you may not have as much input in hiring a security guard with advance security training. In some states, you may be required to have a proprietor’s license. This way, you can hire your own employees and are responsible for incidences, which may be insurance liabilities. Many employers may not want to assume full responsibility.

The bigger question may not be; however, whether to hire your own employees. It may be this, how do you know your employee has advance security or training and has passed a FPOS course or door supervisor’s course satisfactory. Even if a security guard has cards saying the successfully completed a FPOS training course or door supervisor’s course, there is not set standard for what constitutes a “basic” or “advance security” training course.

Is a two-day advance security training course long enough?

Since there is no national recommendations for security guard training facilities, many offer two, five, seven and 14-day training programs. However, can they effectively teach security guards what they really need to know in a door supervisor’s course in 14 days? Should there be a standard across the board for security companies who train guards and offer a FPOS course or advanced FPOS course, so that employers know exactly what type of training guards received, d and how extensive it is.

Because the training length varies, it can be hard to access how prepared a guard is with advanced security training. Some security companies offer a FPOS course among their 29-day extended training. Others have a door supervisor’s course and FPOS course that is held separately. Without standard requirements, it is difficult to judge a security guard’s skills they received in advance security training. This is why employers may need an evaluation process.

Another huddle for executives is assessing whether a security guard who has taken a FPOS course or door supervisor’s course is worth the money. Often, business owners want some sort of return on their investments. How much does a security guard who has a significant amount of advance security training get paid? Those who are new in the security guard industry may make considerably less. Remember, less may not be more. In wanting to save money, sometimes business owners try to obtain the cheapest security guards possible. In terms of security with security guard training, it is possible to receive (such as a door supervision course during advance security training) what you pay for!
