U4GM Explains Diablo 4 Astaroth Farming Routes
Posted: Jul 31, 2026
Many Barbarian setups don't really click until The Third Blade shows up. This Unique Sword shifts Weapon Mastery Skills into the Core category, so they use Fury rather than waiting on cooldowns. With the weapon equipped, those skills hit for 140 to 160 percent of their usual damage, which can reshape how a build feels in tougher content. Players comparing D4 items will quickly see why this sword gets so much attention: it turns a stop-start rotation into something far more active.
Start with AstarothThe cleanest route is to farm Astaroth through Escalating Nightmare Dungeons on Torment 1 or above. These runs have three floors, and each one pushes the pressure up a notch. You'll need an Escalation Sigil first. Horadric Strongrooms can provide one, or you can combine five ordinary dungeon keys in the Horadric Cube for an Escalation Key. Work through every floor, save your resources for the end, then face Exalted Astaroth alongside the Amalgam of Rage. It's a demanding fight, but it puts you straight in the loot pool that matters.
Use Belial when time is tightNot everyone wants to clear three dungeon floors for every attempt. Belial offers a shorter option at the Palace of the Deceiver in northern Kehjistan's Amber Sands, west of Tarsarak. After the fight, his reward chest can be opened with Superior Lair Keys, also called Betrayer's Husks during the season. The useful part is the choice: spend a key and select Astaroth's reward pool. That means you can chase The Third Blade without repeating the Astaroth encounter each time. Death Toll Chambers are a solid source of keys, and regular Lair Bosses may also lead to a smaller Belial appearance with more key drops.
Make every Astaroth run countAstaroth can also drop Ash of the Charred Duke, his Boss Trophy. Don't overlook it just because the sword did not appear. Five Ashes can be taken to the Horadric Cube and used in the Amalgamation recipe, producing one random Unique from Astaroth's pool. It adds a second route toward the weapon while you farm the boss.
- Run Escalating Nightmares for direct Astaroth rewards.
- Keep every Ash of the Charred Duke until you have five.
- Use Belial keys when you want focused pulls from Astaroth's pool.
The best routine is usually a mix rather than one endless activity. Run Escalating Nightmares when you have Sigils, use the Ashes as soon as a set of five is ready, and visit Belial when Superior Lair Keys pile up. If you're weighing whether to D4 items buy for another part of your setup, keep this weapon hunt separate and stay focused on Torment-level Astaroth sources. That approach gives each session a purpose and keeps the chase from feeling like wasted time.
