Dubai Visa Process Made Easy for Indian Travelers

Dubai has become one of the most loved holiday destinations for Indian travelers, drawing millions of visitors every year for its skyline, shopping, and desert adventures. Yet many first-time travelers still find the visa process confusing. The good news is that applying for a Dubai visa from India is a fairly simple process once you know the right steps.

Types of Dubai Visas for Indian Citizens

Most Indian passport holders need a tourist e-visa before flying to Dubai, since walk-in visa-on-arrival is not available to regular Indian passport holders. The common options include:

  • Short-term tourist visa – valid for 30 days, available as single or multiple entry

  • Long-term tourist visa – valid for up to 60 or 90 days, also available as single or multiple entry

  • Transit visa – for travelers with a layover in Dubai

  • Five-year multiple-entry visa – for frequent visitors who qualify

One exception is worth knowing: Indians who already hold a valid US visa or Green Card, or a UK or EU residence permit valid for at least six months, can get a 14-day visa-on-arrival, and Emirates even offers a pre-approved version of this for its flyers.

How to Apply

Unlike many countries, the UAE does not process tourist visas through an embassy. Instead, Indian travelers usually apply through:

  • The airline they are flying with, such as Emirates, Etihad, IndiGo, or Air India Express

  • The hotel or travel agency handling their booking

  • An authorized online visa processing service

You will typically need a passport valid for at least six months from your date of entry, a recent photograph, your return flight ticket, and a hotel booking confirmation. Some applications may also ask for proof of sufficient funds.

Standard processing usually takes three to four working days, while express and urgent options, sometimes cleared within 24 hours, are available through most agents for an added fee.

Visa Costs

Fees vary by visa type and processing speed, and roughly range from about ₹5,500 for a short-term single-entry visa to ₹35,000–40,000 for longer multiple-entry options. Since fees are revised from time to time and are non-refundable once paid, it is worth confirming the current rate with your airline or agent before applying.

A Few Tips Before You Apply

Apply at least a week or two before your travel dates to avoid last-minute stress, and make sure your visa validity comfortably covers your entire trip. It also helps to carry both digital and printed copies of your visa while traveling.

Once your visa is confirmed, the next step is sorting out where to stay and what to see. Many Indian travelers prefer booking curated Dubai tour packages that bundle hotels, transfers, and sightseeing together, taking the guesswork out of planning and leaving more time to actually enjoy the trip.

With the right visa type and a little preparation, a Dubai getaway from India can be planned in just a few simple, stress-free steps.
