The catered ski chalets of the rich and famous really are something else. It is hard to imagine the extent to which some owners go to provide the ultimate in luxury. Catered ski chalets are big business and it is inevitable that, particularly when you consider the prestigious reputation the sport of skiing, many people are pushing the boundaries when it comes to their 'homes' in the snow.

The World’s Most Exclusive Catered Ski Chalets

Some of the facilities offered in the world’s top ski accommodation are almost beyond comprehension, but it is not unusual to have private cinemas, outdoor hot tubs, swimming pools, and even nightclubs feature in some of the most over-the-top ones. Of course, the price tag reflects what they offer and can set you back up to half a million pounds a week! Richard Branson owns a chalet in the Swiss Alps that has nine bedrooms and fetches £112,000 a week.

Some ski accommodation offers guests all sorts of added extras, including top class spas, wine cellars and gyms, too. Most of these palatial, luxurious chalets are located in resorts such as Val D’Isere, Courcheval and Verbier.

Tucked away in the Austrian resort of Lech, The Lodge is a haven of tranquillity and luxury. With a ski-in location, there is a team of 12 staff taking care of guests. There is a mini ice rink, indoor pool, Jacuzzi and nine bedrooms that can accommodate 18 adults and 6 children!

In the exclusive resort of Courcheval, The Edelweiss, which costs up to £348,000 a week, is one of the most spectacular in the Alps. Chefs and butlers are part of the furniture and there is a wellness centre, massage beds, library, bar and billiard room. It is hard to imagine wanting to leave to go skiing, but if you did want a day’s rest from the slopes you certainly would have plenty to keep you occupied.

Val D’Isere’s prime offering in the luxury stakes is the Marco Polo, which is the epitome of Alpine opulence. Six en suite rooms are spread over 700sq meters and there is a fabulous balcony with BBQ and heated seating as well as stunning views over the pistes.

The Chalet Truffe Blanche is another Swiss offering, which is simply magnificent and dripping in luxury. Designed with a sensitive tendency towards 17th century Italian architectural features, its Roman inspired spa is the highlight. There is a Turkish hammam, relaxation area, treatment rooms, Finnish sauna, sushi and vodka bar, as well as a wine cellar that has windows that look into the indoor pool. This one really takes luxury to the extreme.

While these luxury catered ski chalets are out of the remit of most of us, it is fun to see what's out there and perhaps even let ourselves dream a little.
