What is New in EPiServer 7.5?

I am sure you all are familiar with the version of EpiServer 7. It was mainly customized for the mobile version. But the updated version of 7.5 enables the user to experience the power, the redesigning of the system which has brought in itself a workflow of content and products with seamless interaction. As we all know that Commerce has always been a natural part of EpiServer. This has made the version 7.5 bring in focus on eCommerce, and CMS polishing its efficiency in a way that from developers to marketers all are able to conduct their tasks faster than before.

New additions with upgrades and add-ons

The new additions in EpiServer 7.5 are EPiServer Commerce, EPiServer CMS (core/UI) and EPiServer Framework. Some of the functionality of EPiServer 7 that is upgraded to support version 7.5 are EPiServer CMO, EPiServer Mail, EPiServer Relate and EPiServer Find. Along with these upgrades, the new version has come up with add-ons like Social Reach, Google Analytics for EPiServer, Self-Optimizing Block, Publish from Office, Spell Checker and Languages.

The new features and the functionalities included in EPiServer are as discussed below.

EPiServer Commerce

Catalogs form the core part of EPiServer e-commerce solution. The version 7.5 has an intuitive interface so as to have a better and faster management of catalogs. It is based on the user interface introduced in EPiServer 7

The new version of catalog interface enables the user to create, edit, delete stuffs from categories to products and other variants as well. It ensures a good management of packages, bundles and also manages relations for entry in catalog gadgets through drag and drop from the media components in the asset pane. It manages pricing of the product in markets through the pricing overview panel. It ensures translation of product content as done in the CMS content.

The advantage of having a multi-warehouse and inventory management allows e commerce marketers and managers to have multiple stock locations through easy and fast management of the inventories. It shows product availability all across the warehouse and inventory system, which can be extended if, need be and customized as per convenience or can be entirely replaced. It has an inclusion of migration tool for the migration of files.

EPiServer CMS

The editing experience in EPiServer 7.5 is seamless and more integrated than before. The property names are displayed while the editing is being done. The language is more improved this time, the page gadgets are shown by default, when you choose to edit the website in some other language. Now language versions can be deleted, reference dialog is there while the content is removed. The reference dialog is more descriptive. Some predefined folders are made available for all sites as the content remains in the global folder, which can be shared through multi site installation.

Blocks and media files can be shared within the same asset folder. It allows the user to display blocks in different styles in the content area. A new block in the content area can be created either on the page or on the all properties editing view.

The new feature allows a group of links to the content t to get rearranged, a quick way to add links to the pages, media, emails or any external links. However, pages and media on the website can be added through the drag and drop to a particular content area.

EPiServer Framework

Asset management system is an important functionality of the EPiServer framework. It is based on content types and is completely integrated with the Commerce and CMS. It can also be converted to VPP resources and linked to assets. Assets include blocks and media files. It comes with access to all sort of content types and is directly managed from the administrative interface of the CMS. Again, the media files can be uploaded through drag and drop of multiple files into the media and later if need be can be replaced through multi file upload. It supports XCopy deployment over FTP, in cloud environments and through traditional deployment.

The EPiServer has made it possible for webmasters to launch new sites, new campaigns directly from the CMS administrative interface, without the involvement of IT. The system keeps track of the license status and keeps a track of the number of launched sites.
