Experience the Forest View from the Budget Resorts in Bandipur
Posted: Jun 03, 2015
Bandipur National Park has become one of the most popular tourist destination ever since. It is located about 80 km away from Mysore city on the highway to Ooty. Due to the high speed traffic, traffic is prohibited during the late night hours in order to prevent wildlife fatalities.
Tourists stay at the budget resorts in Bandipur as it is easy to visit the park without much travel. The park is scenic with Kabini River and Moyar River outlining it. The forest comprises of variety of timber trees like rosewood, sandalwood, bamboo, teak and kino tree along with flowering trees like gooseberry, crape myrtle, flame of the forest, kadam tree, black cutch, indigo berry and satinwood. They are mostly dry deciduous and shrublands.
Among these trees and plants, tourist can spot wide range of animals including elephants, muggers, antelopes, tigers, bears, gaurs, leopards and langurs. They can also rent binoculars from the Wildlife Resorts in Bandipur for spotting over 100 species of birds in the forest including peafowls, eagles, hawks, vultures, buzzards, owls, flowerpeckers and hoopoes. Apart from the birds and animals, there are many species of reptiles like cobra, python, vipers, chameleon and terrapins and also butterflies like common crow, common jay, monarch, psyche, spotless grass yellow and tawny coster.
Bandipur resorts reservations should be confirmed by the tourists before reaching the destination as the forest is flocked by tourists throughout the year. Most of the resorts are located very close to the forest which helps the tourists feel like they live inside the forest. The sounds of the forest are heard during the nightfall at the resort. There are also occasional visitors like elephants, deer and peafowl which can be viewed from the resort rooms.
The resorts arrange special jungle safaris into the forest for their guests. They also provide rental equipments for the tourists who are interested in trekking. There are many trekking trails available around the forest which also leads to a Hindu temple on top of the mountain. Most of these trekking and safaris are organized during the day time in order to prevent danger for both the wildlife and the tourists.
The trekking trails are often surrounded by plenty of medicinal herbs and ornamental plants. Naturalist can collect clippings of these plants in order to make their own garden back home. The best season to trek along these trails are after the monsoon season which is between January and March. The dry summer season can make the trekkers feel hot and humid but tourists interested in safaris can choose bandipur jungle resorts this season as the animals can be sighted near watering holes.
