An eye-catching cooler is now mandatory equipment for restaurants, bars, bakeries, confectioners, eateries, supermarkets, and catering services. As the name suggests, this equipment is used to display beverages and other food products such as cakes and pastries. Food products stored in these cooling equipments requires lower temperatures. Usually, these coolers maintain temperatures that are anywhere between 0 degrees Fahrenheit and -15 degrees Fahrenheit.

Some of these coolers resemble traditional refrigerators. Additional glass panels on sides of the display coolers increase the visibility of merchandise within though it is not necessary that all such displays have such additional glass panels on their sides.

Walk-in coolers are enclosures with large doors that let users step inside the enclosure. The cold enclosure is used for storing merchandise such as fruits, vegetables, and meats, poultry, seafood etc., apart from beverages. It is also not necessary that all walk-in-coolers have a display cooler unit in front. Many of the walk-in-coolers, though large, are portable as well, making them useful in fishing and pharmaceutical industry.

Display coolers used in vegetables and fruits section of retail businesses as well as in confectioneries are different from these vertical units. These equipments occupy more floor space. However, such display coolers also have different levels for displaying food stuff. More glass is used on these equipments, and the surface may be curved or slanted for increasing the display space.

Shelves provided within display cooler are usually adjustable depending upon height of the bottles or cans.

Illumination inside the coolers increases the visibility of the products. But the compressor and other cooling parts are usually at the back of the unit, towards the top shelf. Some of the larger display coolers have switches outside for changing the temperatures.

Costs of these display coolers differ as per the size and cooling. Refurbished display coolers and walk-in-coolers are available for less than half the cost of original product. As of date, smaller refurbished coolers are available for approximately $1400 to $2000. Refurbished larger display freezers cost anywhere from $2000 to $4000. Finding a refurbished walk-in-cooler for sale is a bit difficult because not many of these are resold. However, such equipment, if in the market, could cost approximately $4000.
