Shot blast is an important procedure in any industry that makes use of metal such as aerospace, construction, automotive or ship building. It is used for cleaning, peening (strengthening) or polishing the metal to increase its life and performance. Since shot blast is vital for surface finishing and removal of rust, scale or burrs from the surface, only high quality shot blasting machine spares should be used for this purpose. This will ensure that the procedure is being carried out without any hassles.

There are several manufacturing companies in the market from where you can buy high quality spare parts for your shot blast machine. Be it shot blast spare parts or equipments such as Almen strips or manganese plate, reputed companies sell durable industrial products that are carefully inspected before being sent into the market. Therefore, make sure you have chosen a reputed company for buying the machine or its parts.

Different Parts of Shot Blast Machine

Shot blasting machine and its spare parts should be maintained on a regular basis as this will help improve the finish of the shot blasted components. Maintained equipment will also reduce the operation costs for the company; however, this will depend on the spare parts, power, abrasives and labor costs in that area.

There are mainly six parts of a shot blast machine- dust collector, elevator, cabinet, blast wheel, separator and work handling mechanism. Blast wheel is the first important part of this machine. Centrifugal force from different kinds of turbine wheel projects the abrasive particles. How many wheels are installed inside the shot blast machine is based on the rate of work and the type of job to be shot blasted. Cleaning effect and efficiency is based on the quality of the wheel and its components that have been installed.

A cabinet made of strong steel, lined with wear resistant alloy liners is the second part of a shot blast machine. The articles to be shot blasted are treated inside this cabinet as high speed abrasive particles are involved in the procedure.

The work handling mechanism involves various systems for conveying the parts, depending on the size, type and quality of the items that are to be treated. For instance, tumblast type machine, table type machine, monorail hanger type machine, roller and belt conveyor machine and door hanger machine.

The fourth part is the abrasive recovery system and elevator. A screw conveyor recovers the abrasives from the bottom of the cabinet and delivers to the base of the elevator. The abrasives are then carried to the separator by the elevator. The air separator then cleans the abrasives of all the contaminants before it enters the blast wheel for reuse.

In the end, the dust collector retrieves dust laden air from the separator and cabinet ventilation system and sends out clean air into the atmosphere. It is strongly recommended to operate and maintain shot blast machine parts in a proper manner or else it will result in sub-standard quality and finish of the parts.
