Family activity holidays in France are a great way to both unwind and strengthen the bonds that bind you and your loved ones together. These kinds of trips focus not only on travelling to a new destination, but actually experiencing something meaningful to make the whole trip truly unforgettable.

If you’ve got such a holiday in mind but don’t know exactly what to do, here are a few of the ideas to help you decide.

Skiing – Family activity holidays to France during the winter ramp things up with the opportunity to ski in some of the most amazing places in Europe. The French Alps are packed full of pistes suitable for everyone's skill levels. Places like Châtel, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Les Arcs, St Foy and La Rosiere are just a few, and for those seeking a pure skiing experience with perfect snow conditions, the region is ideal.

Mountain Biking – The southern parts of France are full of rolling hills and lush forests. Their inherent natural beauty makes them great for hiking, but they also have quite a few mountain bike trails, which are pretty accessible and have stunning views of the surrounding areas. Les Gets, Samoens, and Vallée de la Bévéra are a few examples where you can get active with the entire family on two wheels.

Hiking – The simple act of taking a hike through forests, mountains, hills and the great outdoors in general can be a fantastic activity for the family. There are excellent trails virtually all over the country - Provence is a good location for gentle hiking (perhaps suitable for younger members getting their feet), while Corsica offers trails to challenge the energetic and intrepid adventurers.

Rock Climbing – If you're on the athletic side and looking for family activity holidays that are a bit more off the beaten track than the usual fare, why not go rock climbing while you're in France? Tignes and Alpe d'Huez are two ideal destinations, with many a cliff face ideal for both the casual and the expert rock climber. If you're looking for something to get the adrenaline going, this is it.

Sea Kayaking – Going to the beach is a fun activity in and of itself, but you might be surprised at how much fun you can have when you go sea kayaking around Aquitane or Moliets, in France. The northern coast is especially popular, thanks to the awesome rock gardens near the tidal ranges of the area. It's a fun and energetic activity that can be undertaken by all members of the family.

Keep all these activities in mind when you're planning your family activity holidays in France – and there are plenty more to be had as well.
