Nowadays, the air dryer of the refrigerant type is more popular and is also preferred by various industrial, commercial, and household places. A refrigerated air dryer can easily remove the moisture in the air by making use of a heat exchanger.

By the installment of the refrigerated air dryer the condensation problem of the air has been finished. It is widely used to dry the compressed air that contains water, which is absorbed by the compressors. Further, for protecting the various industrial tools, equipments, and piping, it is best equipment.

This kind of the air dryer is the most common and well-known appliance that is widely used for drying the air and needs very less maintenance. These dryers need very little maintenance and are simple in design. These dryers use a system of the mechanical refrigeration for cooling the compressed air and condense the water and the hydrocarbon vapors. This kind of the dryer permits the pressure dew point to fall at a limited range and this point is easily achievable with any common refrigeration control system.

A refrigerated air dryer, as the name implies works just like a refrigerator and cool down the air. The wet & warm air enters in the dryer, and is cool down at a low temperature. After it, the cooled air is again heated to room temperature and due to this maximum amount of the water is condensed into the water and makes the air dry.

As your fridge and freezer cool the air, it also cools the air in the same way and in a different are evaporated under the evaporator for cooling down the hot compressed air. Now, the air is cool, but the refrigerant gets warmer that is further compressed through a small compressor for cooling in the condenser.

Basically, there are two kinds of the refrigerated air dryers, first is Cycling and the second is non-cycling refrigerated air dryer.

A Cycling type of Refrigerated Air Dryer will enhance or decrease the load of the refrigeration compressor depending on the demands of the compressed air. The dryers will help in saving money by reducing the consumption of the power while constantly offering consistent dew points.

A Non-Cycling type of the refrigerated dryer is most reliable. It can be sized for any type of the applications and will provide a constant and consistent dew point. The Non-Cycling dryers have also highly economical with a very low maintenance cost.

There is also a third type of the dryer that is widely used in that condition when there is a need of the extra refrigeration for removing the water vapor from the air. This type of dryer is most similar to the dryers of the non-cycling types and is over sized for ensuring the consistent dew points.

What to look and inspect for when buying it?

In the present competitive market at the time of shopping for a compressed air dryer which include 1-maximum pressure that should become same or higher the compressor

  1. Maximum flow: The air flow that can easily flow by your air dryer must be more than the air delivery amount of your compressor. Choosing a small air dryer is not a good option because it can result a big pressure-drop on the dryer due to the trouble in the passing of the air through it. As a result of this, there is the emergence of the need of setting of the compressor’s pressure at higher level for compensating for the pressure drop that will also become the reason of the higher amount of the energy bill. So an optimum pressure flow is very necessary to take in the consideration.
  2. Maximum room temperature: If you have planned to put your dryer at a hot place then there may also it be over heated and automatically shut itself down. To avoid this issue, you need to be acknowledged about the temperature of the installation place of the dryer and purchase an excellent choice which can handle that.
  3. Inlet temperature- If the maximum specified inlet temperature is exceeded there is a chance of the damage of the dryer. It requires an after-cooler pre installed.

Apart from these, it is always require checking the guidelines on the maintenance and the installation of your compressed air dryer. Every type of the model has its own specialties and the instructions.

In general for getting a best result, one need to keep the following things in the mind that always install the equipment in a dust-free and cool place.
