Comparison Between Gmail And Other Webmail Services

Does not matter how powerful the social media in the shadows of Facebook and Twitter becomes, when the question of sending important and professional documents and messages will come, emails will always remain a better choice. And now with their mobile based applications in the market, the competition has stiffened. Here we will be comparing three mail services and will try to look which one is better to use.

On the vertices of this triangle are Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Outlook.com

So the first thing anyone is going to notice, is the interface of these sites. And this will be the first feature which will kick start the fierce competition.

On the very first look, the Yahoo Mail may earn some points for its look. The interface is very clean, with the folders of inbox, outbox, sent, trash on the left and the recently received mails covering the remaining of the screen.

With Gmail, the interface, though does not give that much of clarity, but the way Gmail Technical Support Number (Gmail Tech Support USA number –1-888-318-1004) has distributed and differentiated every mail is praise worthy. Following the same convention of placing the folders on the left, this mail service has introduced something new too. On the top of your recent mails you can see five labels-

  1. Primary – All your mails from the listed contacts of individuals only, are listed under this label.
  2. Social – All your social networking sites which uses your Gmail ID, send the crux of your notifications to you as a mail. Such mails get stored in the Social label.
  3. Promotions – All the offers which you hardly look at, are safely stored under Promotions.
  4. Updates – All the subscribed newsletters from the websites drop their mails under this label.
  5. Forums – This category holds all your group discussions.

Another notable feature of Gmail is that, it provides a feature by which you can transfer one mail from one category to another category.

Outlook.com has more traditional and much simpler interface. To compose a message there is a New Button on the header bar of the site. When one clicks on it, a new window appears thus blocking everything on the left.

Also fetching and editing the contact list in Outlook.com can be pretty frustrating, as one has to go through some tiresome clicking on buttons to achieve the required desire.

The second round will be to judge them on how these mail services handle the advertisements. For most of the people, these advertisements pop right at the face, the users start losing their patience and interest.

Gmail Tech Support (Gmail Tech Support USA number – 1-888-318-1004) most probably have done a good survey on this. The advertisements in Gmail do not just pop out of nowhere. They are shown on top of the recent mails in Promotions category.

In Yahoo mail, things are not that sweet. Most of the advertisements find a vertical space on the right side, thus shortening the inbox window. If that is somehow closed, they pop on the top of the mails shouting out loud that yes, they are the advertisements. Can be really frustrating sometimes.

Outlook.com suffers the worst in this round. They only display the advertisements on their right. The little relief one may find in Yahoo by seeing those advertisements as a strip is snatched from them in Outlook.com

The last round will be of the special features.

In Gmail, one does not need to download all the attachments. They can directly view it by using Google Docs. Also when one has placed an online order, a feature to track it automatically appears with the confirmation mail of the company. The Gmail’s new feature of integrating different email IDs into one platform to send mails has given a very strong push to it in the race.

The user does not have to jump from one window to another when they press on any links, say YouTube links. The users can watch the video without leaving the inbox.

Yahoo Mail with these above features also offers Enhanced Contacts, which show the recent conversations along with their information. It helps a lot in finding out which attachment was send by whom.

Outlook.com has taken a very different path in that. With their integration with Microsoft Office, all the Office features of Word, Excel, PowerPoint can be used directly from the inbox, even though if the system does not have them installed on them.

Each and every mail service has some plus points and some negative points. But the flag bearer in most of the levels is been Gmail, followed by Yahoo Mail.
