The World’s Fastest Motorcycle
Posted: Oct 18, 2013
We all see motorcycles breezing by us on the highway so fast that we can barely make out what type of bike it is. Not all motorcycles are equally fast – some are sport bikes and others are made for cruising. If you’re interested in know what the fastest bikes on earth are today, here are the top four this year:
Number 4: Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird
Number 4 of the top 5 fastest motorcycles in the world is filled by the Japanese manufacturer Honda and its CBR Blackbid. Reaching a lightning speed of 190 mph, the Honda CBR 1100xx Blackbird can produce 10,000 rpm of power. As with most bikes of this caliber, the Honda CBR has a very tight ratio 6 speed transmission which ensures top performance in a racing bike.
Number 3: MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K
This list of the world’s fastest bikes starts with the MTT Turbine Superbike, which is also called by some as the Y2K Turbine Superbike. A brainchild of Ted McIntyre, this wheel-driven motorbike gets its power from a turbo shaft engine and hails from Marine Turbine Technologies. With a capacity to reach 370 kilometers per hour, this mighty bike will surely have jaws dropping as you whiz by on it.
The MTT Turbine Superbike has a weight of approximately 230 kilograms and can hold up to 34 liters of fuel. Valued at a whopping 175,000 USD, it certainly deserves the worldwide recognition of being the “most expensive production motorcycle” as well as the “most powerful production motorcycle.”
Number 2: 2013 Suzuki SVF 650
For 2013, the spirit of the SV returns in the form of the SVF 650. The 645-cc fuel-injected V-twin remains largely the same as it was in the Gladius (the SV650's replacement) but now benefits from an improved intake and exhaust. Although the 447-pound curb weight isn't feathery by today's sport-bike standards, it's no heavyweight either. And at $8000, the SVF isn't quite the steal it was years ago. But it is still one solid value for a bike that can stretch throughout your riding career.
Number 1: Dodge TomaHawk
This is thefour wheel vehicle that any serious superbike fan must own. In appearance, this bike looks like no other. For one, the bike comes in four wheels and is powered by an engine that provides 500 horsepower at 5600rpm output and 525 pound-feet of torque. The bike is a kind of quadricycle, meaning it has two back and two front wheels.
According to its engineers, the bike gets from 0 to 60mph in 1.75 seconds, making it the fastest superbike ever produced the world over. The bike could reach an awe inspiring top speed of 560km/h (350mph).Unfortunately, its makers only made ten bikes worldwide and each was going at a pricey sum of $555,000.The only problem with this superbike is that it is not legally allowed on public roads, meaning it was just a concept motorcycle that was meant to be only used on private roads.
Those are just four of the top motorcycles available today. Next time you see one whiz by you on the highway at lightning speed it could be one of these.
