Banfield Pet Hospital health plans, often termed as the " Banfield Pet Insurance " are different from pet insurance in many ways. Pet insurance only provides coverage for when you pet is sick and needs treatment. The pet care plans provide you with routine checkups and testing that your pet actually needs and will use.

Pet insurance can only be used in certain covered circumstances, the pet care plans can be used at any time, no matter what.

Pet insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions, pet care plans includes free office visits to address new and pre-existing issues.

Pet insurance prices are based on breeds and age, and some breeds are not even covered. Pet care plans have the same fee for all pet breeds and there are no deductibles or waiting periods.

Pet insurance has indemnity coverage only after a deductible is met, pet care plans work much like a discount membership that offers practical services with free financing.

The early care plan for your puppy includes all of the following:

• Introduction comprehensive physical exam
• Graduation physical exam
• Vaccinations
• Diagnostic testing, including heartworm, Lyme, ehrlichia, and ear swab
• Fecal exam and deworming
• Free office visits

The early care plan has a one-time membership fee of $39.95, and the monthly fee is $26.95, over the course of one year

Early Care Plan Plus

The early care plan plus includes everything from the early care plan above and also the following:

• Spray or neuter surgery including pre-anesthetic blood exam, blood pressure check, and internal organ screens and electrolytes

The early care plan plus has a one-time membership fee of $39.95, and the monthly fee is $33.95 over the course of a year.

Adult Young Dogs Plans

Essential Wellness Plan

The essential wellness plan is perfect for young adult dogs, and includes the following:

• Comprehensive physical exam
• Vaccinations
• Diagnostic testing including, blood work, internal organ screen, heartworm, Lyme, ehrlichia, and ear swab
• Fecal swab and deworming
• Unlimited free office visits

The essential wellness plan has a one-time membership fee of $39.95, and is $24.95 a month over the course of a year.

Active Prevention Plan

The active prevention plan is for adult dogs age three or older and includes the following:

• Comprehensive physical exam
• Vaccinations
• Diagnostic testing including, blood work, internal organ screen, heartworm, Lyme, ehrlichia, and ear swab
• Fecal swab and deworming
• Unlimited free office visits
• Dental cleaning including full pre-anesthetic work up
• Urine testing

The active prevention plan has a one-time membership fee of $39.95, and is $32.95 a month over the course of a year.
