Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree is in high demand across the world as of now. It is more preferred over engineering degree and the reason being simple: better ROI. Today, more students are opting for business schools because they know they would be able to secure a successful future after they walk out of the college with their MBA degree. Another reason for increase in craze among students related to MBA education is the big jump in their salary post-MBA.

Yes, you guessed it right; MBA degree can help you double your salary as suggested by a survey conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). According to the survey results, 89% of participants rated the value of MBA degree as ‘Good to Outstanding Value’ and 88% of students being surveyed by GMAC recommended others to opt for MBA education.

Students’ perception regarding MBA degree is based on the fact that business education helps to build managerial and leadership skills among students and this is what required by most employers. They develop skills of managing human capital and knowledge of business functions. That’s why MBA programme is being viewed as the way to escalate the corporate rung by students.

Employers are also seeing a robust interest in MBA graduates. A GMAC report published recently revealed that nearly 84% of companies across the world are planning to add fresh MBA graduates to their workforce. Additionally, more than half of surveyed employers said that they will increase salary of MBA employees.

Since time and again students and parents have raised questions regarding the value of college degree, these two surveys make it clear that investment in MBA education can give lasting value to students in their professional lives. Their journey to MBA degree would start by either taking GMAT exam (conducted by GMAC) or CMAT entrance exam (conducted by All India Council for Technical Education) and then getting hired by top national or international MNCs.

From fresh engineering graduates to ones with 2-5 years of work experience, majority of young people are considering MBA programme for a career shift or progression. But if you’re going to opt for MBA programme, do make sure you’ve an answer with you related to the question: "Why MBA?" Students with any undergraduate background could consider management degree but before you enroll yourself in a B-school, weigh carefully the contributions of MBA degree to your career aspirations and sacrifices you need to make in order to get the MBA tag.
