Five Things to Check on Demo Cars for Sale
Posted: Aug 11, 2015
Honda demo cars can be a great way to get a fantastic deal on a nearly new model. Since demo models are often used at showrooms to tempt buyers, they tend to be higher spec variants packed with features. However, as new models are launched and the demo cars clock up a few kilometers, they are often offered for sale. However, before you rush into a deal on demo cars for sale, there are a number of things you will need to check to be sure you are making the right choice.
Are there any imperfections?
Most vehicles look great when they are gleaming clean on the showroom floor. However, it is worth remembering that demo cars will have been taken for a spin by a number of different drivers. Therefore, it is a good idea to check the vehicle thoroughly for any imperfections. Be sure to avoid viewing the vehicle after it has been raining as this can disguise scratches, small dents or chips.
Check the Vehicle History:
Demo cars for sale may have been used as a dealership demonstration model or could have been used as a personal vehicle for staff or as a loan vehicle. Generally, Honda demo cars will have less damage and have received better care compared to vehicles used as loaners. You should also ask if the vehicle has been involved in any accidents or had non routine service issues. This should be reflected in the service records.
Does the Price Compare to Red Book Value?
Although you may think that all these cars are great bargains, this is not always the case. It is important that you check the price of the vehicle compared to the Red Book value and sales price of brand new models. If the price looks too good, be sure to question why. Unscrupulous dealers will often price these cars very cheaply to try and get rid of them because of some underlying issue. While this is not the case with reputable dealers, it is always a good idea to know the Red Book values to allow you to negotiate.
Are Finance Deals Available?
Most reputable dealers will offer very attractive finance terms to seal the deal and sell demo cars for sale quickly. The sales team is likely to have incentives to clear showroom space for new models coming in. This means that they are likely to offer some great finance deals. Be sure to check the terms and conditions before agreeing to the loan, to ensure that it is actually a great deal.
Is it Still Under Warranty?
Most demo cars for sale are nearly new, so still have their manufacturer warranty in place. However, it is worth enquiring if the full warranty is still in place. Some vehicles may have been registered early, which means that there is actually less warranty remaining.
