Back in style this fall are flare jeans with frayed hems, and off the shoulder tops

Lindsey Lennard has a passion for a fashion. As a young girl in Louisiana, she played dress-up in her grandmother’s gowns and always insisted in choosing her own outfits from the early age of 5.

"Fashion is kind of my flare in life, so I studied fashion merchandising in college," said Lennard, owner of Fabré boutique in the Vibe Creative District. "I learned about the whole boutique business and fell in love with it after working for a small boutique in Ruston, Louisiana, for three years."

The Shore Drive resident also honed her fashion skills while working at Nordstrom and for Lela Rose, a New York-based fashion designer. After marrying her college sweetheart, the military brought the couple to Virginia Beach, and Lennard opened her store in 2015.

She described her boutique as a one-stop shop that has a little bit of everything. It offers bohemian, beachy and casual fashion as well as ath-leisure wear and dressier styles.

Additionally, the store sells shoes, accessories, jewelry, art and small gifts.

"I carry different brands that are unique to the area and try make this destination different from the next," said Lennard.

Stellar Street, a Town Center resident, has been a regular customer since the store’s opening. Most recently she purchased a BB Dakota classic silk dress in a teal color. She added that her favorite pair of go-to denim white shorts came from Fabré too.

"Everything is always on trend at Fabré," said Street. "I always get exceptional service. They know my name, style and encourage me to try new things."

Here are some questions we asked Lennard about her store:

What are your personal favorite items? Tolani lightweight cotton modal scarves that are decorated with photos from destinations like Estonia, Santorini and Amsterdam. Another favorite are the bracelets by Tai Jewelry. The dainty bracelets are dipped in 18 karat gold and come with a variety of stones such as lapis, turquoise or colored glass. These are a classic and can be worn every day.

Why do you like the Vibe location? I have good neighboring businesses, plenty of parking, and I am close to the beach. The area offers cool coffee shops, little hole-in-the-wall restaurants, farm-to-table lunch spots, yoga/Pilates, farmer market, etc. It’s such a unique little lifestyle spot that has everything you need with new things popping up daily. I love how it’s home to so many small businesses.

What are the top fall trends? The trends show flare jeans with frayed hems, off the shoulder and cold shoulder (cut-out) tops and colors such as mauve, deep teal and earth tone greens. Mules and suede are back in, and everything is going higher with pants (waists, hem lines and inseams).

What are the customer favorites? Pull-on pants by Elliot Lauren that come in basic colors and novelty patterns. They are flattering on all sizes and are comfortable. We can’t keep them stocked!

Tkees sandals are our best selling shoes. The well-made leather sandals come in every color you could imagine. They’re basic, last all season and are perfect for the beach or every day. Also, our selection of mid rise jeans and up are very popular. You’ll never find low rise here.

Best part of owning Fabré? It’s never the same job every day. I love getting to see the new trends each season, love styling the store and enjoy helping people feel good in what they wear.
