Everyone has heard stories about vacations from hell, where everything went wrong. In most of these stories, the problems could have been averted through proper planning. If you want to avoid the problems that come along with poor vacation planning, read on for some great advice.

When traveling by air it is important you have a plan. It can take much more time then expected to get to airports in major cities because of traffic. Always do your packing the night before you travel. To reduce your pre-flight anxiety, prepare for your trip well in advance. One of the worst ways to start a trip is to miss your flight.

Make a packing list. Some time before your trip, write down everything you need to bring with you. This will enable you to pack only the things that you really need and it can also ensure that you will not leave anything behind.

Arriving the night before is essential. Staying over at a hotel that customarily allows their patrons to leave their vehicles there during their cruise is a smart move. Ask the staff at the hotel where you stay about parking deals they may offer.

When you are going to some type of attraction, print online tickets in advance. You will generally pay a nominal fee for this service, but you won't have to wait in ticket lines when you arrive. If the park you are visiting has a timed entry, you can skip admission lines too.

Anytime you are traveling, be aware of all your belongings the entire time. If you've got a purse, keep it tucked under your arm neatly. Do not use bags with zippers that provide easy access to people near you that could easily take your stuff. Carefully evaluate your bags for security risks when choosing one for traveling.

When traveling, it is important to wear shoes that are comfortable and easily removable. Security procedures require you to take your shoes off. They should always be comfortable. You do not need particularly supportive shoes as you will be spending most of your time sitting. Flip-flops or sandals are ideal air travel footwear.

There is a remarkable amount of plant life and beautiful views in deserts. There is something especially memorable about deserts for the first-time visitor, and no one should go their entire lives without experiencing the austere majesty of the desert.

Sleeping pills can help get you through a long flight. A lot of people find it hard to sleep on planes, due to the unfamiliar surroundings, uncomfortable seats and aircraft noise. You may want to consider bringing sleeping pills with you on your flight, in order to rest comfortably. Don't have the pill before the plane takes off, as a delay or problem may require that the plane returns.

Make sure to find out if you need a visa when travelling to a foreign county. Sometimes visas can take a long time to process so it is best to apply for one a long time before you are due to travel. Without the right paperwork, you could be prevented from entering your destination country.

If you are traveling to a different time zone, keep yourself awake until around 8pm or later in the new time zone in order to help you adjust. Resist the urge to fall asleep too early because this will only prolong the disorientation of jet lag. The sooner you adjust to your local time, the sooner your jet lag will leave you.

As stated above, many people have vacation horror stories because they did not properly prepare for their trip. Use the advice in this article to easily plan and prepare for your next vacation or business trip.
