Posted: Nov 09, 2015
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level MBA entrance exam conducted to select students for MBA and other postgraduate management courses by different b- schools. The test is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). All the colleges registered under AIMA consider MAT score as a prerequisite for the selection process.
MAT is conducted 4 times a year that are February, May, September and December. December MAT is the last MAT exam of the series for 2015. It is scheduled to be held on 6 December, 2015 and 12 December, 2015. The test is both pen- paper based and computer based. A candidate can choose the type of test one wants to give. One must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent to be eligible for the test. Final year students may also apply only if their final results are out before the commencement of admissions. Also, Candidates can appear for all the session of MAT exams in a series if one is not satisfied with the score. The best score will be accepted by the colleges at the end.
MAT syllabus is not fixed, but there are five sections in MAT 2015- Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, and Indian and Global Environment. Each section consists of 40 questions each and time allotted to each section is different. A total number of questions is 200 and total time allotted is 150 minutes. Unlike CAT, there is no sectional obligation. One can easily shuffle between the sections and decide the section one wants to begin with.
There is no fixed syllabus for MAT 2015, but it mainly covers the following topics- Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Vocabulary, Grammar, Verbal Reasoning, and General and Business GK (Elementary Level). One needs to cover up all these topics and the main subtopics to achieve a decent score in MAT. There is also a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer while no marks will be deducted for skipped questions. It is necessary to clear the sectional cut-off of the Indian and Global Environment section, but its score will not be added while calculating the final percentile.
The last date for registration is 24 November, 2015 and the admit cards will be available online from 29 November, 2015 onwards. One can download the admit card from the official site of MAT 2015.
