There are many things to love about and become excited for during the winter months, such as snow, holidays, and parties. However, while there are many who love the delights of the cold weather, just as many dread the season. This is especially apparent in the city, where people complain about icy streets, cold offices and homes, dull skies, and feeling claustrophobic while cooped up during inclement weather. In fact, in recent years, more and more evidence has surfaced regarding how the winter months adversely affect the emotional and psychological well being of many. Seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, points to the lack of sunlight as being a cause for lethargy, low morale, and even severe depression in many people. Fortunately, with modern travel and technology, finding the sun, even in the depth of winter, is easy.

Book a trip to the breathtaking Caribbean! Luxury hotels, sunny days, temperate blue waters, and warm hospitality are sure to bring colour to your cheeks and your dull grey days.

Sunny Days

Shed your winter clothes as soon as you check in to one of the many Caribbean luxury hotels on your favourite island (don’t worry, you can always go another island if you change your mind), grab your swimsuit and sunscreen, and feel your cares just melt away under the tropical sun. Spending the day sunbathing on one of the pristine beaches fringing the Caribbean luxury hotels is heaven itself, but if you’re after a bit more excitement you’ll be spoiled for choice. You can also windsurf, snorkel, waterski, or sail – in fact there are hundreds of activities to choose from. You can even go dolphin or whale watching.

Party Nights

Though warm, sunny days are no doubt one of the biggest draws of the region, that doesn’t mean the fun stops once the sun goes down. This stunning part of the world boasts the most beautiful sunsets in the world, but trust us, here, when the sun sets, the party is just beginning.

Caribbean luxury hotels often have nightly indoor parties but nothing beats a party on the beach. Where else can you wear get away with wearing beachwear or island attire to a party? If you’ve experienced reggae music you’ll know it is nearly impossible not to dance along to its hypnotic rhythms, and these islands are where it all began so they know what they're doing! Live music and all-night dancing in a gorgeous setting; exotic cocktails using local tropical fruits like mangoes, papaya, and pineapple; spicy authentic cuisine (be sure to try the jerk chicken and the local barbecue); and entertaining company – it's the perfect recipe for a party!

Want to experience an island-wide party? Book your holiday for December and participate in one of the famous festivals, such as the St Lucia National Day, the Grenada Carriacou Parang Festival, or the Cayman Jazz Festival—it will make for a holiday you’ll never forget.
