Doctor Richard Reid along with Doctor Michael Campion created The ANZIME Advances in Women’s Health Workshop held on March 17, 2012 at The Garvan Institute, Sydney. The workshop focused on four areas:-

Development of hypertension, dyslipidaemia, diabetes, and increased cancer risks in the young women suffering from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

Limitations of traditional Prolapse Surgery and review of current synthetic mesh controversy.

Review of Menopause Transition and information on hormone therapy and osteoporosis.

Guidelines for Colorectal, Breast, Gynaecological Cancer screening and hereditary cancer syndromes.

The ANZIME Workshop was attended by a wide range of general practitioners, helping them enhance their knowledge and experience in the gynaecology. The workshop attendees become able to:-

Understand the menopausal transition and discuss new information on hormone therapy and bone health.

Explain how new insights into the patterns of anatomic damage during child birth has led to improved repair outcomes, and why the use of synthetic mesh in pelvic surgery is a double-edged sword.

Outline current guidelines for cervical, breast, colorectal and ovarian cancer prevention, particularly in women with familial cancer histories.

Describe how polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) relates to insulin resistance, and why long-term weight management is crucial for these patients. Doctor Richard Reid is a dedicated professional who has always been loved to learn new things. He has given a lot to the field of gynaecology, and thus received many prestigious awards including F.J. Browne Medal by Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology for the highest marks in the board certification examination, Presidential Award for the Best Basic Science Paper by the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and Presidential Award for the Best Paper at the XVII Meeting of the Society for Gynecologic Oncologists.
