Posted: Dec 11, 2013
If you’re looking for an unforgettable beach holiday in Menorca, villas in Son Bou not only give you access to the island’s longest beach, but also give you a great point from which to explore the entire island.Located on the southern coast of the island, Son Bou is designed to enable visitors to make the most of the best beach in Menorca. Villas here, however, are still full of charm, many with views of the beach, surrounding hills and countryside. If you’re looking for a beautiful beach and a relaxing holiday, Son Bou is definitely for you! What can you do in Son Bou? Family Fun In Son BouFamily-friendly accommodation and child-friendly activities make Son Bou one of the best resorts to have a family holiday in Menorca. Villas here are close to uncrowded beaches that are great for relaxation, walks and just sun bathing If you and your family are looking for more action, you'll also have access to a range of water sports, including scuba diving, banana boating and jet skiing. Nature Trips and Historic WalksBut it isn’t all sand and water sports on Menorca. Villas in Son Bou are close to a beautiful rugged countryside as well as sand dunes and marshlands with an amazing array of birdlife. Nature lovers will certainly love the local nature reserve, just behind the dunes, which is a lovely place for a shady walk. If you’re lucky you’ll see the Booted Eagle, Blue Rock Thrush, Egyptian Vulture and more. Pro tip: bring the insect repellent! If history is more your thing, explore the Cap de Penyes nearby. There are fascinating ruins of a historic fortified village and an early Christian basilica, around which the village centred sometime between the 4th or 5th century. The NightlifeIf you’re looking for a buzzing, throbbing nightlife, you may be in the wrong resort! There is, however, just enough entertainment if you’re just looking to unwind and be entertained. Enjoy singing along at the karaoke, having fun at quiz nights and watching live shows. Because it’s a relaxed area, expect these places to slow down around midnight, but if you want to stay up a bit later there are a couple of dance clubs open until around four in the morning.
Neighbouring Alaior
The island is small enough to get out and enjoy some exploration, and big enough to ensure that there are always new things to see and do. Nearby Alaior is the easiest place to get to. You can have fun shopping for the local crafts, especially the leather and rubber sandals, enjoy the cheeses and other wonderful foods, and take in the Moorish and Medieval architecture. If you’re lucky enough, you may even make it to the town festival.
