Posted: Jul 30, 2016
There’s no better place to be than the Outer Banks of North Carolina during the summer. So, we have put together a list of things you may want to consider bringing with you to make your trip even more spectacular. A little bit of planning goes a long way into making sure your journey here and your visit with us is as smooth and exciting and you anticipate it to be. But don’t forget to factor in that we can’t control the weather and accidents do happen. When you’re prepared for anything that comes your way, you can relax and enjoy your vacation even more knowing that everything is under control.
How to make the most of your trip to our Outer Banks Hotels
Any time of the year is a great time to visit the scenic Outer Banks of North Carolina. But summer is a particularly awesome time to take your worries to land’s end and let them wash out to sea. Whether you enjoy frolicking in the surf and basking on the pristine beaches on the ocean side, or taking advantage of the calmer waters on the Pamlico Sound side for boating, fishing or other water sports, OBX is a paradise just waiting for your arrival. To make your trip more enjoyable, Outer Banks Hotels and hotels near Outer Banks have put together a list of things you should consider when packing for your adventure:
The Journey—If you’re bringing the whole family, you’ll want to provide entertainment for the kids to make the trip more enjoyable for everyone. If you don’t already have a DVD player in your vehicle, you may want to purchase a portable one to occupy your passengers in the back. For more interactive options, coloring books, books or magazines are great, or you may want to create a game out of searching for license plates or certain color vehicles you pass on the way. Also be sure to have enough bottled water and snacks for everyone in the vehicle.
Pit Stops—Depending on where you are originating your journey, you may want to plan a stop or two along the way for meals or just to stretch your legs. Do a little research before you leave so you can find some interesting choices and print out directions so you don’t have to wander around aimlessly when looking for a restaurant with a vehicle full of hungry passengers.
Emergencies—We’re hoping your trip is free from any unwanted events, but it’s good to be prepared for anything. Make sure you have your insurance documents and vehicle registration handy, and you may want to give someone else in the vehicle a spare key to the car, just in case. You’ll also want to make sure your spare tire pressure is good before you leave and that you have flares, flashlights, etc. One final item you may want to have prepared and onboard before leaving the house is an emergency medical kit.
Your Vacation—While you’re packing, consider what you’ll be doing each day. How many different outfits will you need? What else will you need besides clothes? Think of the toiletry items you’ll need, sunscreen, any games or toys you’ll want for the beach, extra towels, a cooler, chairs, hats, footwear, your phone, a camera, a jacket or sweatshirt in case the evenings are cool, etc. Make a list of everything you can think of and use it as a checklist as you’re pulling out the suitcases. And even though we’re hoping that your days are filled with sunshine, be prepared for rain by bringing a raincoat, ponchos and/or umbrella. One last thing, many of our hotels are well stocked to handle all of your entertainment needs, but you may want to bring some games to play in the room if one of your vacation days does get rained out.
