Improving Your Marketing And SEO Strategies By Delving Into The Consumer Mindset

Determining the mindset of your consumers can help in your SEO strategy. There are two distinct mindsets that social psychologists have identified: the abstract and the concrete mindsets. Consumers with abstract mindsets may tend to focus on the general use of things or goals, while those with concrete mindsets may tend to focus on the differences. How your consumer thinks and processes can affect their purchase intent or interest and it can reflect on their online behavior, which can affect your marketing and SEO strategies.

How would you know your audience's mindset and how can knowing this be to your advantage?

Phase 1: Know your customers

There are general attributes associated with certain groups, but the best way to know the kind of customers you have on your website is to conduct a survey. Include questions on their preferences. Example: Is it easier and more user friendly to have an option that can group together items under a broad category (i.e., all posts under DIY, all items under Home Improvement category), and another option that lets all brands fall under a type of product (i.e., all types of pans, all types of lipsticks, all posts about celebrities). It will be more updated and more in depth.

Phase 2: Know their online habits

Learn how to use your analytics efficiently or use customer tracking software. Check how they go about your pages, how they use your website, and how their choices correlate. Categorize your consumer's online behavior. Try to identify any sort of pattern. Know the most interesting points of contact between you and the audience (or touch points) of their web experience. Information garnered through this may help you improve audience engagement.

Phase 3: Research

Think outside the box. You may not always be your consumer's only choice. They are doing their own research, looking for information somewhere else. It's up to you to check these areas and also know your competitors. List down the good and bad points alike about their websites. Don't simply observe it, try to use or interact with it. Draw from your own experience an objective review of what works best for both of your consumers than figure out what you can uniquely offer for yours.

Phase 4: Matching Mindsets

The fourth phase is knowing how to align your content with your customer journey. Keywords do not automatically mean it's the king of your SEO strategy. See how your customers are using these keywords instead and know what kind of content and experience they're looking for based on the previous analysis. Or, knowing their online behavior, execute strategies that could essentially guide your customers into your envisioned movement, which is much like how crowd control works in public places.

Upon application of all these, the important thing is to keep an open-mind and be flexible enough to update or improve your current strategy. Click here to learn more about an SEO service provider.
