So your small business, whatever that may be, has been thriving month to month and now you have an issue, what to do with all that paperwork and extra stock?

At the beginning of 2016 small businesses were thriving with a huge 5.5 million businesses trading in the UK and it’s only set to grow with entrepreneurial drive inspiring more people everyday. So whether you’re an established small business or a brand new venture, extra space and cheap storage units are most likely at the forefront of your mind.

Full to the brim

Feel like you’re living in a warehouse? Most small businesses begin at home in a study, a garage, or away from home in a commercial office space. Wherever you hold your business, you can almost guarantee that it’s only a matter of time until business takes off, from this sudden customer demand you’ll soon realise that buying products in bulk is the best route for your business, and after all this tends to be the most beneficial way of buying stock as you get the best value for money.

Before you know it you’ll find yourself surrounded by boxes and boxes of bulk stock so that you can keep up with customer supply and demand, creating an unsafe office space for you and your employees and a hectic workspace, which may distract from important tasks at hand and ensuring the business runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

As your business grows, it’s inevitable that your paperwork will too. A good way to keep on top of paperwork files and folders is to ensure you keep an electronic copy where possible. But unfortunately, that’s not always viable; for example, legal documents require staying in physical form and therefore it’s advisable to file these safely away in self storage units to avoid any major headaches going forward.

The right move?

Moving premises would be your first instinct in this scenario, however with office and storage space being sporadic and expensive; moving your business generally isn’t feasible right away.

One solution could be external self-storage. Being able to move stock out of you home and stop it from completely taking over your life, which to many, probably sounds great right about now! Imagine, you could enjoy having your living room back so you can switch off from a hectic day and relax! With self storage companies you can rest assured that your businesses property will be safely stored away until you need it next.

There are a variety of self storage companies in London and the surrounding areas that provide small and large commercial storage for your use. With some companies, experienced professionals will collect your goods and safely store them away at your convenience, and even deliver them back to you when required. All you have to do is pack the boxes - simple!

This solution could really take the pressure off your shoulders, so that rather then worrying about keeping a tidy space and dodging piles of boxes, you can concentrate at the task in hand, growing your business even more!
