Nepal is a country full of Himalayas which is one of the best destinations for trekking. There are lots of places within country for trekkers. Trek in Nepal is operated by different Tours and Travels Company. Among various popular treks in Nepal Poon Hill Trek is one. It is a short trek that will let you to know more about the Annapurna region. Trek will likely to complete within 3-4 days. Those who are short of time and are bounded by their time limits they can organize this short trek to Poon Hill.

Ghorepani Poon Hill is located in Myagdi District in the Dhaulagiri Zone of northern-central Nepal. It is about 17 km away from Beni. Poon Hill Trekking offers a beautiful trek routes with panoramic view of mountains and green hills. One can see unique Gurung’s and Magar’s villages on the way as well as so much attractive forests of blooming rhododendrons and bamboos. The Trek actually starts from Nayapul which is on the way to Baglung from Pokhara. One can easily get a public transportation or can reserve vehicle to reach the destination from Pokhara. Pokhara can be reached in 25 minutes of domestic flight from capital city Kathmandu or via road transportation which will take 5-6 hours.

Ghandruk is the next destination that falls on the way to Poon Hill. Ghandruk offers very close view of the Annapurna. You can see sunset and sunrise from the village which is so fantastic. The village has got houses that preserve the traditional structure with stone roofs. You can find local village museum which is worth exploring.Tadapani is the next spot should have to cross to reach Poon Hill. After 3hrs of easy walk you can reach tadapani which is the nearest station to Poon Hill. You have to walk through forest of blooming rhododendron, oak, and alpine flowers. From Tadapani you will have to pass Banthali and Deurali. It is a straight jungle route. On the way you can get views of Annapurna South, Annapurna II, Fishtail and other mountains. From Deurali it is steep down route and trail to reach Ghorepani which is the base station of Poon Hill. It is as small village which has home stay facilities. From Ghorepani you have to walk one hour of steep up hiking to reach the top of Poon Hill.

Poon Hill is at 3210m height from the sea level that offers panoramic views of several snow-clad mountains and peaks. It would be so windy at the top of the hill and if the weather is good and clear we can see a spectacular view of sunrise from Poon hill. There is a view tower at the top of Hill which is called Poon Hill Viewpoint. During winter snowfall occurs due to decrease in temperature. The mountains seen from the hill are Annapurna South Mountain, Gangapurna Mountain, Dhaulagiri Mountain, Annapurna I mountain and Hiunchuli Mountain. After having the view from the Poon Hill you will have to again walk down at the base following the same trails used to reach the viewpoint. You can back track same route to reach Ghandruk enjoying same scenic beauty that falls on the way and reach Nayapul. From there you can take public transportation to reach Pokhara. This short trek to Poon Hill will certainly give you so much fun and enjoyments that will make anyone falls in love with the nature and its beauties and also increase the eagerness to explore more of it.
