Many people daydream about holidaying in St. Lucia, and for good reason. With its lush tropical rainforests, amazing natural wonders, pristine beaches, and warm local hospitality, St. Lucia is widely recognised as one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. Add to that luxurious and full service resorts such as East Winds Inn and you’ve got paradise on Earth! Oh, and did we mention the party atmosphere? Below we present a few suggestions to maximise your stay on the island. After all, even the most die-hard sun worshipper needs a day or two away from the beach!

Hike or Bike Exploring the natural treasures of this spectacular island is a definite must. You can start by strolling through the grounds of the East Winds Inn, which features more than 12 acres of tropical gardens, more than 80 different types of tropical plants and flowers, as well as serving as home to a host of species of birds. You can also hike through the various trails that meander through more than 19,000 acres of lush rainforest. Choose to tour ancient plantations, or bike to amazing natural landmarks such as the dramatic Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Diamond Waterfall, or Anse Chastanet Reef – where you may even catch a glimpse of ‘The Thing’, St. Lucia’s version of the Loch Ness Monster!

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

If you’re looking for a party, you’ve definitely come to the right place! We dare you not to start dancing once the band starts laying down a reggae beat, whether it’s at an impromptu beach party on Brelotte Bay, just down the beach from the East Winds Inn, at the weekly The Gros Islet Jump Up, or during St. Lucia’s annual Carnival. In addition to music and dancing, the Carnival also features parades with colourful costumes, street performances, band competitions, and various other traditional and non-traditional forms of entertainment. These parties are also a great opportunity to sample local treats such as locally made rum, classic Creole dishes, curries, freshly grilled seafood and other Caribbean treats.

Vegging Out

Of course, what’s a holiday without a few (quite a few!) lazy days? Laze around at the pool, read a good novel while sipping a cool drink in the charming café, or just sit outside your cottage enjoying the beautiful island sights. The best way to recuperate from too much partying, however, is a spa day, and you’ll be spoiled for choice as St. Lucia is home to some of the best spas in the Caribbean. Try one of the famous mud baths, guaranteed to give you extra-silky skin, or take full advantage of the available amenities. East Winds Inn also offers spa massage services as part of their excellent portfolio.
