The Three Valleys is a great ski area for all abilities, but boasts some superb skiing for adrenaline junkies who want to venture off the beaten track and really challenge themselves. Here are a few of the toughest and most exciting runs in the Three Valleys to try on your next ski holiday – insurance is a must if you’re going to attempt these pistes!

Combe de Vallon

You’ll find this run in Meribel, and you’ll want to come back to do it over and over again. Largely overlooked for some unbeknown reason, you’ll have this absolute corker almost to yourself to carve down from 3000m. The altitude alone at the peak affords for some incredible views, but you’ll need to focus as you zoom down at high speed with very rapid acceleration.

Jerusalem

This superb slope starts out right above St Martin and winds all the way into the town below. Full of natural rollers, you can pick up speed and hit them hard and fast for a real adrenaline rush – just be sure to slow down enough before the corner at the bottom. Continue onto the blue to go straight on into the town for a little pick me up before you hit the next piste.

Christine

Hop into the Funitel Peclet in Val Thorens, get out at the very top and cross the cat track on the right to find where this beauty starts on the left. You won’t be breaking any land speed record on this one, but the challenging tight turns and sharp chicanes the whole way down make for a really fun run.

Saulire

This classic runs from the peak of Saulire at 2700m down into the valley of Courchevel. It’s a long run which perfectly combines flat and steep, with its wideness making it perfect for flaunting your skills. It can get quite busy, but if you plan for a late lunch then you can make the most of this red when everyone else is off the pistes enjoying a rest.

Folières

This is a personal favourite! Starting in the forest above La Tania close to the ridge between Meribel and Courchevel le Praz, it’s an absolute must-do if you’re an advanced skier visiting the Three Valleys. This tree-lined beauty is just stunning, but keep your eyes on the slope. It begins with a nice steep gradient before turning and twisting its way down through the forest. Big, sweeping corners bordered by rollers are so much fun to hit while you’re flying down the mountain. Part of the magic of this run is that there is somehow almost always some fresh powder, even when there hasn’t been a snowfall in days.

Ensure You’re Insured

Before you point your skis straight down these experience-essential runs, make sure you have the appropriate ski holiday insurance. We hope you manage to tick them all off and have your best ski trip yet – it will be all the more exciting if you venture off the beaten track onto these super exciting slopes.
