Attractions You Can Explore With Cheap St Lucia Holidays
Posted: May 03, 2018
An island nation with beautiful natural features, St Lucia is a place where you can have an abundance of enchanting white-sand beaches and lush green mountains. It is located in the eastern Caribbean Sea and is a part of the Lesser Antilles archipelago. The island destination is especially preferred by those who wish to enjoy a laid-back holiday surrounded by nature and with all the modern comforts. This is made possible with all kinds of luxurious resorts on the island. During your time in St Lucia, you can explore some fascinating attractions and indulge in exciting outdoor activities.
If you are thinking of enjoying your cheap St Lucia holidays during the period between December and April, you’ll need to postpone your plans. This season has the highest room rates in the country and a heavy rush of tourists. However, in the following months of May and June, the hotels and resorts located in this part of the Caribbean would be willing to slash their room rates if you book a few months in advance. Although a bit risky, the hurricane season from July to November would be the best time to secure some attractive deals on accommodations. If you visit in July, you may get the chance to witness the Lucian Carnival.
One of the best and the most popular attractions on the island is The Pitons, which is a part of the Pitons Management Area. You can explore these twin peaks during your St Lucia holidays by embarking on a hike towards its higher reaches. As this makes for quite a difficult climb, many tourists prefer to enjoy its view from the fishing village of Soufriere. The larger of the two peaks is called the Gros Piton and it has a height of 798 metres. The other peak is Petit Piton which has a comparatively lesser height of 750 metres.
While enjoying your St Lucia holidays, you’ll also get to visit the Marigot Bay, which is considered as the most beautiful bay on the island. It was also used as the setting for a film released in the late 1960s called Doctor Doolittle. Owing to the film, this particular part of St Lucia gained immense popularity. Upon visiting this bay, you’ll witness the delightful sights of yachts bobbing on the blue waters of the bay, green hillsides, and a gorgeous palm-fringed beach. The depth of the harbour had once helped the British fleet to hide from the French by covering their masts with palms.
The coral reef of Anse Chastanet Marine National Park has an abundance of aquatic species at different depths, which allow divers to witness some charming corals like the boulder coral, coloured sponges, and brain corals. A large cavern nearby is home to the frogfish and other varieties, such as goatfish, chromis, and parrotfish. While exploring this part of St Lucia, you can also have a wonderful time on the Anse Chastanet beach above the surface of the coral reef, which is a sheltered beach and offers some majestic views of the Pitons.
