New Trends in Urdu Poetry

Before elaborating the modern Urdu Poetry and its trends it is necessary to throw a light on what poetry is and why it has been taken as a source. Actually its reasons are political social, literal and physiological.

It has become a great misconception that to express sentiments, love, sex and beauty is poetry some people were in the opinion that one cannot become a poet until or unless he fails in love. They support their idea by quoting that Urdu romantic poetry in which usually poets were used to admire the feminine beauty or sex in an exaggerated manner. They were used to compare their lips with "Gull-I-Lalla". The height of the beloved was associated with "Suro". Every poet tried to prove himself himself a passionate lover by praising the beauty of their beloved.

But now our modern poets have realized that poetry can be the medium of expressing the bitter realities of life.

Secondly in fact man whether he belong to any community or to any field of life he has to face some economic problems. He cannot close his eyes from the needs of life. That is why one aspect of our practical life is concerned with financial or economic problems. Our modern poets have realized that Ghum-i-Dora is also important. Love is not the criteria of life and Ghum-i-Dora is also a bitter and great reality. At such a bitter realization.

After awaking of this sense our poet has come out of their dream world into the life of common man and now they elaborate the problems of modern man and now themes of their poems deal with our real life. Our poets now are fearless and democratic they write whatever they see or feel without any hesitation. Though government try to implement some restrictions upon them but now they are more confident as compared to the ancient poets.

In modern poetry another inclination is that now poets does not determine and call his beloved in the way in which an ancient poet used to Modern poet addresses the female gender directly and clearly and also express the emotions in some way.
