Brief history of Palace on Wheels Palace on Wheels, India’s first luxury train, was launched by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation along with Indian Railway on 26th January 1982. It takes the guests on a journey through the magical land of Rajasthan while pampering you with the royal treatment on-board. Such kinds of luxurious journeys were usually reserved for the rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, Nizam of Hyderabad and Viceroy of British India, who travelled by these luxurious coaches. Post-independence, these coaches lay dormant for a quarter of a century. It was in 1981-82 that Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railway launched this train to let people experience the royal way of travelling.

Facilities on-board Palace on Wheels

Although the Palace on Wheels is dressed in complete royalty and suffused with the regal aura, it is also equipped with modern facilities and state of the art amenities which ensure that your journey is extremely comfortable and satisfying.
